They want to start doing it soon too. We're in the midst of membership season where they're hassling us to re-sign, to reserve our seats etc.

I'm buggered if I think World Cup fever is going to result in membership renewals for the Victory; I don't think the championship win automatically results in sign ups either given the current stank on the league - they desperately need to make some signings that will get us excited.

At the moment I still think I'll just end up with a GA membership for both grounds, cos I find that a bit easier to stomach if/when I only go to 4 games a season (as I did last year after spending about $200 on a membership) - but I'm hanging by a thread at the moment. It's not the Victory's fault, but the league just isn't exciting me in the slightest at the moment. (Also, the more A-League I attended at Docklands, the less I wanted to go. I know Heart are a junk, embarrassment of a club and a disgrace to the league, but I do envy that they play all their games at Swan St.)

I’m in the same boat as you nobby.

Just a few little things the club has done is rubbing me up the wrong way.
Getting an email from the club 15 mins after the GF win to buy GF merchandise is a bit of a cop out imo. Just celebrate it for what it was for a moment before trying to flog off overpriced memorabilia.

The leagues gone stale as all hell. I was struggling for motivation to go to games at the back end of last season, all was a bit meh.

So $254 for 14 games might seem ok but realistically I’ll probably only want to attend half of those games at best. Completely over attending Victory games at Etihad so there’s 5 there that doesn’t bother me.

$135 for a 5 game membership is most likely what I’ll do. It might be some of the lesser sides at AAMI Park but so be it.

All club membership and marketing has always since day dot been dictated by the FFA

I wrote a post a while back when we fluffed it against Denmark that I haven't seen such interest in the sport since 2006, and there is nothing to reap the rewards of that interest

It's so frustrating - not just Melbourne, but everyone could have benefited from that

I'm dropping down from Cat A to GA this year and my friend has put his membership on hold (nobbyiscool this could be an option if you want to keep your member level). I have a feeling that the A League could really go from bad to worse this year.

Yeah I'll be doing the same. And if the Team 11 bid gets up I'll be off the Victory bandwagon altogether.

So after 3 years of hanging with the toffs I am back to GA and will be supporting with the unwashed. My mate bailed on his membership so at least with GA if someone else wants to come along I can sit with them.

Didn't realise I was paying near $700 for it, must cost a fortune for a family!

Translated section (FVS tweeted the article out):
Life in Australia was further super-relaxed. I usually went to the club at nine o'clock in the morning and then we started training at ten o'clock. Around twelve o'clock I discussed with my teammates what we were going to do in the afternoon. Often it would be nice to have lunch and drink coffee. Then I took a nap and it was already evening. I then sent an app to my teammates: "Where are we going to eat?" That was the life in Australia pretty much. Nothing wrong with that.

People are surprised that I have not renewed my contract with Melbourne Victory. Football was good and life also pleased me very well. I still get a lot of appjes from people from the club if I want to come back to Australia. I was greatly appreciated by the players, but unfortunately certain people have not fulfilled their appointments in conversation with my agent Richinel Bryson .

We had agreed that if I would perform well that would also be seen in the next contract. The club also wanted to extend, but then just for the same amount. And that after everything I've done there last year. With all due respect, it did not happen to him. I am old and wise enough now that I know this is part of football. It remains business.

I am now negotiating with three other clubs in Australia. But if I play football far away from home, it must be a good amount. I've been nice in the spotlight. Not only in Australia, but also in Asia and the Middle East. I have seen different countries in Asia. China is not really a country where I want to play, I thought it was a dirty gang in Shanghai. I do not see Korea either. Japan seems to me really beautiful again. They also start calling again from Turkey.

I am now at an age that I no longer care where I go. I just want to play football and enjoy. Turkey also remains an option for me, even though I have had nine coaches there in two years. I also had a payment arrears, but in the end that was all paid. Furthermore, it is a top country to play football and close. I hope this time not too far from home to finish. It may sound strange, but that does not mean that I exclude Asia. Twelve hours of flying seems gigantic, but it is not so bad now that I am used to 24 hours to Australia.

As a little boy who grew up here in the Staatslieden neighborhood, I never expected that I would ever see Australia. I do what I am good at, the game that I love. I come to countries where I would not come without football. That's great to experience? It is therefore too early for a return to the Netherlands. I would like to play abroad for another year or two. Around that time I am 33 and then we see again.

I am now training a lot in the Netherlands. I want to be fit for a new club. In the morning I train inside, in the afternoon outside on the field. My vacation is over. Now it's time to focus again. There is really something beautiful passing by. I have always had self-confidence, even in lesser periods, but even more in Australia after this year. I really want to get back to work. I am ready for the next step. As soon as a good offer comes, they will also know who Leroy George is in that country. "
