Couldn't find a fantasy footy thread - apologies if there is one and please feel free to move this.

How has Don Sheed looked through the preseason? Likely to spend most of the year at senior level?
Don't bother with them

They don't get stickied, even after repeated requests.

Sheed will spend most time in seniors, expect scores in the range of 60-100, avg 80 odd. Like a true mid priced player.

Wouldn't go near him in fantasy tbh

The AFL site had a crack at our best 22 for round 1.

They've gone with
  • 2 tall defenders - MacKenzie and McGovern.
  • Vardy and Petrie in the ruck.
  • Nelson over Butler in the first 18 but Butler on the bench despite his injury.
  • Hutchings, Redden, Schofield and Barrass missing out on the first team.

I think they've done pretty well except I'd bring in Hutchings for Butler (injury) and Giles for Petrie.

I'm ok with giving MacKenzie first crack as a tall in defence.

North Melbourne v WEST COAST, Etihad Stadium, Sunday, March 26, 1.10pm AEST

B: Jackson Nelson, Eric Mackenzie, Brad Sheppard
HB: Shannon Hurn, Jeremy McGovern, Sharrod Wellingham
C: Andrew Gaff, Matt Priddis, Lewis Jetta
HF: Jamie Cripps, Jack Darling, Chris Masten
F: Drew Petrie, Josh Kennedy, Mark LeCras
Foll: Nathan Vardy, Sam Mitchell, Luke Shuey
I/C: Dom Sheed, Elliot Yeo, Josh Hill, Sam Butler

New faces: Sam Mitchell, Drew Petrie, Nathan Vardy

Missing with injury/suspension: Nic Naitanui (knee, 4-5 months), Scott Lycett (shoulder, TBC), Willie Rioli (hamstring, 7-9 weeks), Simon Tunbridge (knee, 3-4 months), Jake Waterman (foot, TBC)

Notes: Fierce competition for spots makes predicting Adam Simpson's round one team fraught with danger. The Eagles coach has a handful of toss-of-the-coin decisions to make – not least choosing between whether to play two or three tall defenders. Tom Barrass and Will Schofield can consider themselves desperately unlucky to miss out here, but Eric Mackenzie appears to have Simpson's nod for round one after playing the final JLT Community Series game. The Eagles only used two key defenders against the Demons in a full dress rehearsal for round one, although that might change against a tall Roos forward line. Nathan Vardy and Drew Petrie deserve to shoulder ruck duties after impressing in pre-season matches, with Jonathan Giles waiting in the wings. A hamstring injury set back Liam Duggan's claims but he shouldn't be far away from pushing for the best 22, while Mark Hutchings is extremely stiff after a solid pre-season. Jack Redden's opportunities have been limited so far but he should be pushing for the best team. - Travis King

Replace Giles with Petrie in the side and that's pretty much what I'd be going with.

Petrie over Giles as main ruck ?
Giles has trained as our main ruck this pre season until his thumb injury . He played well as our main ruck last year when natanui went down
Imo it's vardy and Petrie fighting it out for Forward/ruck role .

Given your ruck issues will you take Sinclair back for Jetta? We'll chuck in some old nail clippings and some pocket lint to sweeten the deal.

Would have said yes last year but Jetta looks focused this this year.

I think and hope that he settles for you this year. His best is very good.

Sinclair, on the other hand, is slipping further behind in our ruck rankings. I think you'll have the last laugh on that deal.

We've given you some doozies in Seaby and Sinclair...
I remember Seaby had a good game for us....you know that one time.

Rucks have never been our strong suit. Why oh why did we let Mummy walk?

Sinclair was meant to plug a gap but Naismith has come along and Cameron is pushing his claim in the pre-season. Sinclair might end up fourth banana.

Any ways. Sorry to derail thread. Carry on.

Mummy was on or wanted fat wedge. There was no realistic way you could keep him unless he accepted unders.

That's Simmo on Nelson. So atm looks like Emac is in.
As much as I'd love to know that Simmo sees Easy as best 22 because it'd bode well for Muzza, I just don't see it. I think he's playing silly buggers and will unleash Barrass in round 1.

It's either that or the rumour that Barrass got a little ahead of himself is true.

If Nelson is in then it's 1-2 of Mackenzie, Barrass and Schofield.

And 1-2 of Hill, Hutchings and Butler.

3 players in total from the six I've mentioned.

Best guess is no changes to the team that played Melbourne.

I suppose that Giles for Petrie is the other potential change.

If Giles has another 40 plus game hitout then it will be an interesting decision next week.

I feel for the guy.

He comes to the club behind two established ruckman who are clearly best 22, leaving him languishing at east Perth.

Then, gets a reprieve late in the year due to the unfortunate NN injury, then lycett also goes down.

So he enters this preseason as our most recognised ruckman available, but gets a hand injury of all things in the last few weeks of preseason and watches part timers Vardy and Petrie waltz into the club and look on the verge of taking his spot round 1.

It's almost like an anti Steven Bradbury moment, watching your competition falling over, only for you to fall over yourself.
