So in other words next time I want tickets, don't go on until after 9.30? Very strange, but thanks for the info. I'm honestly not sure if I can be bothered dealing with AFL membership today, might just have to cut my losses and hope Geelong win through to the prelim.

This is the second time in a row I've had issues with ticketek. Was buying tickets to a concert a few months ago and after several glitches in the system I finally got tickets, but I think I was lucky. I don't understand how it can be so difficult to get website up and running.
Next time, who knows? That was just my experience today. It's absolutely absurd that neutral supporters will be watching the game, whilst Geelong (and Richmond) AFL members are at home having missed out on tickets. How hard is it for ticketek to go to cloud based servers which scale supply to demand?

I had major issues as well which I've never seen before in over 10 years of buying through the AFL members.

I wrote this back to them but doubt they will care:

"Thank you for letting us know.

I think you should consider selling to AFL members with club support to the teams playing in the game first then to other AFL members afterwards. It is unfair for AFL members with club support for one of the teams to miss out.

Also (I asked this last year), have you considered the AFL Members tickets going on sale before the Club members/general public on sale date? This allows AFL members with club support who miss out through the AFL Member allocation to be able to then buy through the Club members/general public on-sale period. It would not be difficult to just change the dates around. The AFL membership should be putting fans first to ensure AFL members with club support to a team playing have the best chance of purchasing tickets."

I may be wrong but isnt this exactly what happens for the Grand Final? AFL (Gold) goes on sale first to competing club support members, then opens up to every other Gold member (lol), then opens up to Silver members with competing club support memberships, then whats left goes to other Silver members. Then the club membership sale begins on the Tuesday, where those who have AFL memberships with competing club support packages can buy a ticket as a club member. Atleast thats how i remember it working in 2011, I missed out on a ticket in the AFL reserve but bought a standing room ticket in the club membership area on the Tuesday. It shouldnt be hard for the AFL to apply the same structure to all finals when it comes to buying tickets. Maybe even giving the "home" team first go at ticket purchase before the "away" team.

Lot of pussies around here.
They should have been around when "queueing up" meant actually "queueing up".
At the MCG.
Overnight.
At least.
And when "being bumped from the queue" meant being physically bumped from the queue once the boys percolated down after the pubs shut at 10 o'clock.

And was it snowing?

Did you walk to the MCG in the snow? With no shoes?

How hard is it for ticketek to go to cloud based servers which scale supply to demand?

Tickitek IT: "We should look at upgrading our infrastructure, it cannot cope with peak demand"

Tickitek Management: "Has the existing setup stopped us selling tickets overall?"

Ticketek Sales dept: "Shit No"

Ticketek Management: "can people take their business elsewhere?"

(Ticketek Everyone): "bwahahahahahaha"

Ticketek Beancounter: "so why should we spend money upgrading our infrastructure?"

Ticket Analyst: "shit it's 9:15. Time for a coffee break....."

I'm so sorry if this has already been posted but has the grand final ticket allocation ballot emails been sent out to members yet?

All my Geelong members mail gets sent to spam and I couldn't see it in any of the previous mail on my phone....I know we still have to make it that far but would be very disappointed if I missed out on the opportunity.

I'm sure Ticketek would love to send out the ballot registration for all 8 remaining team members and get their ballot registration fee, but even for them its probably pushing the boundaries!

Generally its only sent out for the 4 teams who make the prelim finals.
