Thanks for the link, grimlock. Your contributions are much appreciated.
I've just watched the 1st quarter. Suns traling 7 to 29. 6 debutants today for the Suns. Scheer & Nicholls both look like they could do some damage at senior level soon, if needed. Schoenfeld could also play seniors, but would just make up the numbers. No one else doing much. Brooksby & Shaw not playing, because they're travelling emergencies for the Seniors. Grant carried off on a stretcher with a leg injury. Maybe a knee. Macpherson busy, but disposal not good enough. Brodie showing some good signs, but not starring.

Spewing a bit Brooksby was elevated, but hasn't been required, now May/Thompson possibly back next week... and MacPherson ripping it up in the reserves 2 weeks in a row deserving a senior game but with no way of senior elevation.
I made this exact point on Facebook and got shutdown by idiots thinking Brooksby is going to be the next Alex Rance. Stupid decision.

It looks like Grant did his ACL, maybe Macpherson will be upgraded for him.

Ah shite, sucky news for Grant. Probably his last game for the club.

But it could present a well deserved opportunity for Darcy. Especially because this is his last year as a rookie. Really hoping he has a good season and grabs a senior list upgrade next year. Top kid on and off the field.

I think a rookie can be on a list for 3 years. However it is likely the rookie list will be scrapped for 2018 which is a good call.

Yeah it is sad i'm sure he's feeling pretty horrible right now.

The upgrade of Brookers was the lower risk move and was the sensible one. We were thin for medium and tall defenders last week, and if Jenkins played then Brookers would have had to come in. Might still be needed this week since he is one of the travelling emergencies.

Rather than a bad decision I think it was unfortunate circumstances for Darcy who can't do much more in the NEAFL. But taking a longer term view, he is still only 19 (with a late October birthday). A really good chance to get some games later in the year and be on the senior list next year.

Thinking one or two of Brodie/Scheer/Scrimshaw goes in next week. Brodie IMO deserved a round 1 berth anyway - was best performed draftee in the JTL series.
If Grant really is out with an ACL MacPherson should get a upgraded.

Agree can be easy to get a stat in NEAFL - but you still need to get them.....
You get promoted ... and then you find where you are really at .
Success depends on adaption and playing the team game.
Re Shaw / Lonergan tonight - what was their Time on Ground ??
Did they have opportunity to score.....

Shaw 81% TOG, 55% KE, 9 POS Lonergan 76% TOG, 92%KE 13 POS

Eade mentioned in press conference that they needed to have a balance and not be too young. He said that Swallow and May will be back next week, and he all but confirmed Bowes will be rested. Shaw obviously makes may for Kolodjashnij, and I think Bowes and Lonergan make way for May and Swallow.

If Rosa doesn't come up I expect Scheer to debut. He has been emergency for two weeks in a row and seems to be in good NEAFL form.

Yep exactly what I was thinking

Despite the loss, Gold Coat coast Stephen Daniel seemed the happier of the two coaches.

“We had to bring 12 (players) in from our Academy, and five we met for the first time on Friday,” he said.

“For them to come together (and) to get within three goals of one of the best sides in the competition, we’re happy with that.”

Will Brodie (35 disposals, six clearances, six rebound 50s) showed the quality that saw him picked ninth overall in last year’s draft, putting his hand up as one of Gold Coast’s best on the day.

Great to see Brodie picking up big numbers. One of the criticisms of him pre-draft was an apparent inability to get a lot of the ball.
