ESPN's Pat McManamon reports the Browns have renewed efforts to trade Brock Osweiler.

DeShone Kizer is on track to start Week 1 barring an implosion in the third week of the preseason, while Osweiler is not going to play this week. Osweiler's inactivity suggests the Browns are trying to keep him healthy in order to deal him. Osweiler essentially took a shot at Browns team hierarchy, replying "I think that's a great question for our general manager" when asked what would need to happen for him to win the starting job, suggesting it would be the GM's call and not coach Hue Jackson's. "I don't know where that came from," Jackson answered when asked about Osweiler's comment.

Forget that Osweiller is a dud and yes he has earnt a tonne of money (someone offered him the pot of gold in the first place) but any chance of this guy etching out a career in the NFL is fading fast because of that bizarre trade earlier this season. The Browns bought a high draft pick, the front office of the Texans get to wash their hands of their monumental mistake signing Osweiller and the player is basically consigned to the scap heap.

If not that you could argue the trade made both teams better in the long run the trade would have been deemed cohersion and there wouldn't even have been a fantasy league in the land that would have approved it.

Mitchell Trubisky is getting some reps with the first-team offense this week.

Trubisky has worked exclusively with the backups to this point. Mike Glennon will start Chicago's third preseason game, with Trubisky expected to get some reps with the first team in the second half. It's a positive development for the No. 2 overall pick, but Trubisky remains unlikely to unseat Glennon before Week 1.

The Browns are run by a bunch of fantasy guys--why would it surprise anyone they would make that ridiculous trade for a second round pick?? Why would it surprise anyone that they have managed to make what was left of Osweiller's value, lower?

Why would it surprise anyone they will trot out a sacrificial lamb to the wolves in Week 1?

The FO has been in over its head from DAY FRICKING 1--they accomplished the incredible feat of inheriting a bad team and in two years making it horrendous.

They still sell (and more incredibly people still actually buy) the bullshit that they are "building" a contender for 2019. There will not be 10 players currently on the roster---playing for the Browns in 2019.

These idiots need to take their fantasy strat-o-matic--analytics crappola, shove it right up where the sun doesn't shine and get the hell out of my city.

The fundamental problem with their moneyball approach is that in baseball you are working with seasoned veterans with statistics drawn from the competition you are currently playing in. Cleveland do it with college stats that then need to be projected to a totally different competition in the NFL.

The fundamental problem is they had no business being anywhere near a front office in professional football--period.

Not only your point is accurate, but the other gaping flaw in their bullshit is the average NFL career is UNDER 4 years. Rosters of the very best teams turn over at a 70% plus rate within that time span---teams as shitty as the Browns are closer to 80%.

As you point out---this ain't no baseball
