No. Kochie is interested in Asian/Australian economics snd helping small businesses in Australia gain access to this msrket. Port Adelaide (or as he sees them the Harlem Globetrotters of the AFL) are a vehicle for this.

This is why our stste government are involved, as they should be. It is a good thing for our economy.

Any sponsorship they gain is incidental to this.

Nah its sponsorships hence why they dont want gold coast taking the limelight. Kochie was smart to include the government to help make an event out of this game and encourage business to the state but the fact remains that this whole exercise is pointless if they dont make sponsorship $.

How many followers does port have on their weibo?

Not even sure we have one - most of our China stuff is reposted on the AFL page though. Mailman handles all our social media in China.

I'll just leave this here.

GOLD Coast is leaving Port Adelaide president David Koch red-faced on the jumper row not even the AFL will touch before their historic clash in China.

The Suns are disputing Koch’s claim there is a contractual demand for Gold Coast to abandon its red-and-yellow home jumper — which resembles the Chinese national flag — to wear white in Shanghai on May 14.

And the Suns have rebuffed Koch’s threat to have Gold Coast never again invited to China saying it is the AFL — and not the Power boss — who will decide who plays when and where on the premiership calendar.

Gold Coast put, in its reckoning, a full stop to the guernsey drama by presenting its red jumper as its official uniform for the China at an AFL-managed media presentation in Shanghai today.

And this ... where the Gold Coast red jumper is visible on a black-and-white panda. I presume the teal is under the red-and-gold jumper.

So Koch head reckons there is a contract and it's in writing regards guernseys, well show us. If it exists it shouldn't be hard to prove it.

Shouldn't take but a minute to fetch it, it's stored with the medical records from Essendon's injection programme...

Reminds me of their push into the NT.

Melbourne's home game but Port out some work into making it happen.
A few years down the track Melbourne still play home games there and no Port. It is us playing up there this year.

Melbourne reap the financial rewards of selling a home game and the AFL maintain a presence up there.

Much bigger scale and resources used. But same principle.

I would seriously laugh my ass off if they lose that game.

I reckon that Kochie would self combust and fire Kenny on the spot.
There is no way Ken stays if they are embarresed on field over in China.

I could see him staying if they miss the 8 but win in China.

China is more important.

They've sort of made their bed though, Kochie has said it's finals or bust.

As it should be, teams with the majority of their players in the prime of their careers shouldn't be missing finals 3 years on the trot.

REH had a friend in Shanghai who found our page - 33412 following. And it's only going to grow. You know how many are following the AFLs official page? 397.

How you like them apples? :p
So only 397 people in China follow the AFL?

Wow.
