Boak, Wines, SPP and Ebert are all inside mids that will be ineffective elsewhere. You need another key forward, a speedy outside player (motlop) and more depth in your back half. Rockiliff makes no sense at all. I hope you don't loose out on Wingard resigning due to his crazy contract.
Lost all credibility stating Ebert and Boak inside mids ineffective elsewhere. Obviously have not seen Brads 40 possession games and his marking / intercept ability. Plus boak showing signs of his ability to kick 3 forward. Move on

My point is not against him as a player. He is indeed a very good player. However, I was surprised you went for him in that you already have a number of inside mids, that lack leg speed. The balance just looks off for mine, and aside from Gray and Wingard you will potentially be having SPP, Rockliff, Wines, Boak and Ebert all spend plenty of time forward. I think opposition sides would definitely take that.
Had a good sleep? You’ve made your point. Time to go outside and play.

But he’s committed to his point even though it’s based on a complete misapprehension. Can’t you see his committent??

Look you guys have bought some players but have any of you considered:

Rockliff, only you and Carlton were interested, why?
Motlop, you've paid $600k plus. Spin it all you want but the compensation proves it.
Watts, kicked out of his club and you are the only suitor.

You've brought in 3 players that weren't wanted by their clubs and there was little interest.

Destination club? Sure if you want to buy players. Has nothing to do with culture.

And what's up with your drafting? Have you actually got more from a trade than what you drafted the player for? I can't think of one.
Suck it cow...

Sure, but where do your other mids play whilst he is on ball?
It’s pretty simple, the players in the best form make the 22, the others sit out. Depth and competition for spots is not a bad thing so stop trying to make it sound like it is by attempting to justify your flimsy argument.

Thank you for your sincere concern but you are hilarious.
If you think Wingard is going anywhere else, you don't know Wingard.
Stop dreaming, we know your coach covets him, but in spite of what you al believe, Clarko doesn't get everything he wants.
You are also assuming our player management department are a mob of idiots who haven't factored in our other players coming out of contract in coming years.
I think our own guys might just have a better handle on what we need than you do.
Now just be satisfied we gifted you Impey and go and have a nice lie down.

It must be really eating you up that your franchise cant hold onto your best players.

Your right, players consistently choosing Port as their club of choice has nothing to with culture, except for both Rockliff and Motlop saying culture did play a role in their decisions.

However, to your point about trading - when your top players dont want to leave its hard to know if you will get more back from a trade than what you originally drafted them for.

Wines yes fair call, although he has had the ability to push forward and kick goals. Boak doesn’t even play mid anymore let alone inside mid, he’s been a outside player, playing on at nearly every opportunity he gets. SPP is both, has way more speed than other inside mids, plays very similar to Dustin Martin without the effectiveness or high skill at age 19.

Every is a hybrid who can go anywhere but kicks a lot and is more inside mid than SPP or Boak.

We basically have no extractor outside of Wines though. Wines has been kicking more in recent years anyway. Rockliff would be perfect.

He adds clearances (our ruckman is our 3rd beat clearance player).. tackles (only have 4 guys averaging over 3 a game) and handballs (only 3 guys in the side average over 9 a game)

Waste of time arguing with that guy. Argues ad nausem.

But what Melbourne could never do is lower their eyes and hit him up when he was in space. For much of his time there, a 30m pass would miss him by 5m. Melbourne also never understood kicking into space, or kicking to your teammate's advantage in a contest......

Well that's 10m closer than Port's players kick to their forwards

We didn't match the crows' offer for Motlop because we didn't have to. Like Polec, Port was his club of choice all along. All we had to do was get somewhere in the ballpark. More than likely Geelong getting Pick 19 as compo was about the AFL ensuring Geelong had a pick capable of satisfying GCS to get Ablett home. The AFL want Ablett back in Geelong, and that became even more paramount after the recent events in his family situation.
