One is an AA squad member. One is a kid that has never played afl.

As a betting man Lever is a more surer thing unquestionably

As I said more likely but no guarantee

Especially with our last 20 years. Lever could be the next Schwarz for all any of us know. He could go backwards. He could win a Brownlow.

Neither cases are guaranteed.

We paid overs but I do wonder if this means we have some other deal going on in the back ground more important than Balic. Means we have a lot of time to sniff around for some other shit.
I hope so. Only because I’m not done with trading yet and need to be entertained.

I’ll be mad if we trade 35 for Balic though.
Wouldn't surprise me after the ridiculous Lever trade. Balic was drafted at 38 and done fk all, lets give them more than they spent. Will probably trade Watts for a pick in the 30s too.
Taylor mustn't rate next year's supposed superdraft.

I think we just wanted to get this deal over with so we could move on to what we are doing with Watts and other deals. The Lever deal was causing gridlock in our trading. We paid overs, but only by 1 round. I can live with it. It's like when you go buy a TV for $1,000, and then you see it on sale for $800. You know you paid overs, but you learn to live with it. You still got the TV - you just have to buy a slightly cheaper DVD player. To get too upset about not getting the bargain you wanted is pointless. I can't be bothered getting furious about it.

The other deals had better be spectacular after this reaming.

Well 2017 seems like a bust. We paid far too much for Lever. I hope we get a first this year and the next.

Holy shit everyone relax. We quite possibly got the best young defender in the game and two kids pick at 10 and 12 ain't gonna matter a ****. Our time is now to strike for a future superstar not waste more time developing some kids. Let's say hypothetically pick 10 this year Taylor thinks will get us nothing so we really traded next year's first and a 4th for lever.

DVDs and blu-ray are very good value atm.

I’m not really adding anything here am I? Over and out.

I think you're overrating lever a bit.

As I said above, it's not only the draft. We now have no bargaining power to trade for anything top shelf next year

Lynch comes out and wants to come home. Rule us out.

I don't really care that much. As much as trades are nice, 80-90% of a team's improvement comes from improvement within the existing list. I'm happy that we are in the mindset of having a crack in the next couple of years rather than worrying about the next rebuild. Our defence was pretty average this year, we've addressed that with Lever. If we can just find a bit more midfield pace now, we can't be too upset. Not sure there are any midfield speedsters on the trade table right now anyway.

Hogan and Lynch won't play in the same forward line, those days are dead. Plus we could easily get a first round pick again next year if we had too

The interesting wrinkle in the Lynch thing is Hogan himself.

Hogan wants out. We want an instant replacement. Turn to the Suns and tell them Freo can pay you for Lynch what they pay us for Hogan.

Hogan has played some of his best up the ground. Lynch is better deep than hogan

How would we easily get a first rounder in a draft that people are clamouring for picks in?

Look at it this way, the last time we got a first round draft pick was 2015 when we picked up Oliver and Wiedeman. Last year we didn't have a pick until the mid forties where we picked up Hannan this year currently our first is 27 in the second round and next year we have barred ourselves from a first rounder also. That means that we won't have first round pick until 2019. That's four years of losing out to the top end of the talent pool. W should have let lever enter the PSD and picked him up then not capitulated like this

To be fair, while it's more likely lever succeeds than a draftee, neither are guaranteed

You can't make a hypothetical about adelaides draftee being a bust, while claiming lever is guaranteed.
True in principle, but I know which player id be comfortably leaning towards for a prosperous career right now. Add the importance of the structure that player brings.

So you are ignoring that we took two kids inside 7 in one year and then Lever who is better than who we would get at 10. We didn't just give away picks for nothing we got one of the most exciting if not the most exciting young defender in the game.

I agree with the ideals of them playing well in those positions but forwards aren't important enough in modern footy to take up your whole salary cap between them.

I don't know mate but hypothetically we could trade Tyson and next year's second to someone for their first next year. Who knows but no one saw the pick upgrades to 4+7 for Oliver and Weid so it's not impossible
