List Mgmt. 2017 Trade Free Agency and List Management Watch Part 3

I would not trade anyone from the premiership side. If other clubs ask about any players by all means put it to them.

Anyone who wants to put their hand up by all means shop them around.

I remember essendon being torn apart after 2000. I would not have that happen to us.

Heard today that Lloyd is headed to Carlton and that Snip hasn't had any interest shown by other clubs and will be sticking around on a 1 year deal.

If that's the case then we won't be doing Carlton spoon collectors any favours at all.
Considering the campaigners have been pricks at the trading table of years past then they'll be treated that way

Pay up big Bluebaggers or piss off.

One way of looking at list management is to consider the guys that will come into the side in 2018. I think that list looks like Markov, Bolton, CEllis and Menadue. All look a class above VFL level and they will challenge premiership players.

This then leads to our trades and de-listings. If we must keep the 4 players above, I think it means Hunt, Conca, Lennon, Lloyd and Elton are all gone. They play similar roles to the boys listed above, but they have had (and missed) their opportunity at AFL level.

A few players will be kept on for depth and because of contractual status. I could have some of these wrong, because I don't closely follow contracts but based on form and need I'd hope Batchelor, Griffiths, Hampson and Miles all stay. I doubt they will. None of them are irreplaceable. I won't be surprised if Hampson retires and Miles is traded.

Plenty of turnover in a successful list. Our VFL team will go backwards, but we'll hopefully start adding some younger talent and getting games into them at VFL level very quickly.

Cheers.

I wouldnt shop around premiership players (although a quiet word to encourage interest....), but if an approach is made for some of them, I'd be happy to look at it.

Townsend, Castagna, Broad & Butler all did a good job, but if the team is to improve, then we'll probably be looking to replace at least some of them, and if we can get a decent pick for them....we should take it.

With the talk about Conca today I've gotta say that I hope we can hang onto him. His body may be shot but if he could get a decent injury run we still don't really know how good he'd be, adding to that is the fact that we'd get bugger all for him in a trade, no more than a 3rd rounder of which we already have 2 and don't need another

Surely someone could use Miles? FFS he is a contested beast. Happy for him to stay, but I wish him well. Hopefully he can find a team so he can play some senior footy.

Good luck to Lloyd too. Great goal kicker. It would be a shame if he went to Carlton as I hate those campaigners.

I was shocked a bit when I heard he'd had no interest.
Wanna see him prosper, but if he can't find a new club I'd be very happy to keep him.

Another Tigerman had mentioned Sydney being a suitor, and he's a switched on guy when it comes to all things Richmond, but in this case I'm a lot more confident in the first source.

Contracted. Tell SOS the bidding starts at pick 19. Or a pick in the 40s to any club that isn't Carlton.

Broad and Butler have a lot more improvement in them. I wouldn't have said it about broad in round 12 but he is getting better and better every week and has a bit of Grimes about him being able to play small and tall.

Castagna if a good offer comes has to be on the trade table, he is making the same errors now as he did as a junior and not convinced he'll iron them out plus with Bolton, Stengle and probably Naish it's our strongest are and he is the most expendable.

Best of luck to snip but we proved why he can't play at AFL level, he just can't match it on the outside and next year teams will be trying to play catch up to us in that regard and miles won't help them.

Brendon Ah Chee has requested a trade away from Port Adelaide.
Apparently three clubs interested. Don't know who though. Good player, I rate him. Not sure if he fits in with our team balance though.

Townsend may be offered a 1 year deal, needs to be let go imo
Kidding? He must get at least another full year. He's best 22 in the absence of a qualified second true tall forward and works hard as a trend setter for the young blokes even if he is just playing reserves.

Doesn't look like Conca wants out at all...

I would assume any Player looking to be brought in, the first question would be do they chase and tackle. If not then they won't fit the mould if the Gameplan is to stay the same next Season. Everyone needs to be at least above par (with those manic at it around them) with those two things in order for it to work, as shown in the Finals Series. That's why a few weren't getting games late in the year no matter how good their VFL form looked.
