Why do we need Shache? Seriously will cost us pick three when we desperately need mids. Let's go to the draft and target Lynch and Sloane via free agency in 2018.

i agree we may not need him but won't cost a first rounder. second rounder is the word on the street

What's your view of the right deal here?
For me it has to be as was said during the year. Elite young talent.
Alternatively an additional first rounder next year in the alleged super draft plus a second and third rounder this year to facilitate some business?

I don't think we'll see this 'elite' talent offered up for a pick in this years draft and that Kelly moment is gone.

If SOS can plug up gaps and reel in 3 best 22 players, are we better off than handing over next years second for Kennedy alone? Hard to say.

So, Kennedy, Scully and (Zac Williams would be perfect) and either another player or GWS's next years second for pick #3? Would we do it?

I reckon our progress has been a bit better than expected and it's hard not to be excited by the likes of Cripps, SPS, Doc, Charlie etc but the worst thing we could do now is think we are closer than we are and reach. The Kelly deal was fine because it suited our need for both talent in the midfield and young players. Any proposal to drop pick 3 on a package including Scully though (or Schache) has me worried because despite Scully's quality, he doesn't really fit the age profile.

Personally, I'm completely comfortable with the club stepping back and being passive this week if the right deal isn't out there. Waiting another year isn't going to kill us.

Yeah....I watched him a few times last year.....he does not have that ""possessed"" looked when near the ball.....
and his chases were non-existent.....he reminds me of Kane Lucas and Troy Menzel.....
Exactly. Unlike Harry who possesses speed and has a bit of anger and physicality.

I'd do it it 2 seconds. I think we are totally overrating an injury prone Byrne.

Injury prone? It's not like he continually suffers soft tissue injuries. He was unlucky in two contests. He's one of the best kicks in our team. Can break the lines and has a hard edge about him. You can't give him up when it's most likely going to be Simmo's last year.
Schache has so many question marks on him it's not funny.
Also contracted for 2 more seasons.... Byrne wouldn't even do it...

There were doubts about Schache before he was drafted. Namely that he lacked aggression and athleticism . Great mark and Kick however. The doubt was that without the aggression he would not progress in senior AFL where his big body was less of an advantage. Had been toweled up by JW when it counted. Of course the other side of the coin was that he could be "äctivated" with the right coaches and some gym work.
Now his form to date reinforces the pre-draft hesitations rather than refutes them. Added to that, Fagan who knows a thing or two about players, clearly doesnt like what he sees.
I am not prepared to pay anything close to a first round pick, this guy has had 2 years to show something and he hasn't. Even if he hated being up in Brisbane, a young man with plenty of ambition and drive would have done what say Gibbs and Dangerfield did and put his head down and proved his worth. This guy just went into his shell. We need men not wimps.

The fact is the Lions will want to trade him with the best available offer. They don't want to keep 20 year old player with home sickness who doesn't want to be there for two more years.
