Melbourne end up on 818,734. This is surprisingly a drop of 14k from last year. However last year was a record total and this is their 2nd best ever. Home crowds are up significantly but away crowds dropped by slightly more.

GWS end up on 440,095. This is their highest total ever, beating last year's record by about 9k. Home crowds dropped but away crowds picked up the slack.

This year 4 clubs have recorded a record total: Richmond, WC, Freo and GWS.

37,285 for Melbourne/GWS. GWS' 2nd biggest crowd in Melbourne.
It is amazing what happens when you are finally a good football side after a long, long time being beyond bad. It is just a huge wave of support which all comes in at once.

That is an amazing crowd. going to be a huge crowd for Melbourne first final for years.

Sydney got over 46,000 to their elimination final at the SCG last year against Essendon. Getting thousands less against the Giants would be weird, wouldn't it. Expecting ANZ anyway, but I don't really know what the latest is on that situation.

I could see Melbourne vs Geelong potentially cracking 80,000 if it's on the Saturday.

Something really strange happened while watching the MCG game in Sydney today.

The game was on the main channel of 7, however completely unannounced, a repeat of border security was run immediately after the half time siren was sounded and I discoverd the game was then transferred to 7mate. Very confusing.

North end up on 569,722. This is 15k up on last year but there are only 3 lower totals since 1993.

St Kilda end up on 637,204. This is 124k down on last year, the biggest drop of any team. It is their 4th lowest since 2002.

You’ve got to wonder how well Melbourne v Geelong will draw. Any chance Melbourne supporters will come out in crazy numbers after their slumber? What was their highest crowd this season?

Melbourne have averaged nearly 48,000 at the MCG this year.

St Kilda also dropped a long way down the ladder so you would expect a massive drop off.

Hopefully the Melb v Geelong game does pull over 80 k

Interestingly I dont know if many people picked up that Melbourne were wearing their original 1858 jumper with the number 160 in the middle of the red vee denoting that they are 160 years old this year and are one of the oldest football clubs in the world.
Both Melbourne and Geelong were the two first Australian/Victorian Football both founded Melbourne in 1858 and Geelong 1859 and of course play each other on Friday at the G and of course we had today the oldest AFL club playing the youngest GWS.

Current record for Week 1 of the finals is 270,678 in 2011.

Think we're good for around 100k at the two non-MCG finals, so anything over 170k for the Melbourne games will set a new record.

90k for both Melbourne games.
60k in Perth and 45k in Sydney.

Demand will outdo supply on Thursday night, so the turnout will be huge. Won’t hit 95k due to the Thursday night though.

On Friday MCC will be packed and what the Dees and cats don’t fill I’m sure there will be a huge neutral turn up to this game.. I’ll be trying to get a ticket for sure.

The west will break all crowd records and hopefully squeeze 60k in and surely it’s a sell out in Sydney too.

Realistically i don’t think it’s asking that much for all 4 games to be complete sell outs

First ever final at Perth stadium and it's Vs Collingwood. It's moments like these Perth needs a bigger stadium.
