To be fair. Carltoon clearly robbed us of a win in '79 with the Harmes out of bounds incident.

We had no hope against a rampaging Lions side in '03. Bucks tagged out by Simon Black.

We were cooked as soon as Cats did us by 16 goals in round 24, and Malthouse tanked the finals.

New beginnings tonight, where we don't come up against a rampaging Geelong or Brisbane side to take out the flag.

It is for Magpies. Moore in 1979, Buckley in 2003, Swan in 2011, all won it, all lost in the Grand Final.

Last Magpie to do the double of a Brownlow and then a premiership was Albert Collier in 1929 (although Harry Collier was retrospectively awarded a Brownlow in 1989, due to the abolition of the countback system for a tie that operated in 1930)...
