Hope we are having a look at this guy.

Would have worked with Dew in Sydney so that's a bonus.
Could also have a look at his two younger brothers Billy and Matt potential rookie spot maybe.
Don't know much about Matt but played a bit of footy against Billy he is a gun.
Finally started to take his footy seriously this year and joined VFL team South Melbourne

After watching the Swans and Hawks game.
And in his 3rd AFL game Rookie player Ronke kicked 7 snags standing at 182cm

Got me thinking.
In our 7-8 years..
who other then key forwards in Lynch and Dixon have kicked more then 4 snags in a game?

I’m fairly certain Matera kicked 4? 1 randon game and i know Martins kicked 4? A couple times?

We just dont seem to get any decent bags from our smaller guys.

Ahchee and ainsworths good for a goal a game... then its any ones guess.

If someone could work out how many players have kicked 4 or more goals and how many times.

Would be interested to know.

Thanks

Bennell kicked 6 against the Cats, Matera kicked 6 against the Hawks early last year, Ablett would have done it early on, maybe Liam Patrick??

Would complement our side well - good user on the outside either down back or on a wing > think a rich man's version of Lachie Weller so 2 x top 5 picks

Matera kicked 6 once and has kicked 4 on 4 occasions

I think age and high draft pick are over-rated consider papley and Ronke all from rookie pick

I would be looking at a few Swans players who can't break into their midfield when it is full strength.
I would rather draft Rankine, Rozee oror Hately , as Florini , Lyons and Swallow will be in Best 18 every week , nothing in Sydney midfield excited me with speed and X Factor . ( Those who can't break into their midfield). Rohan gone missing in Finals , Florent and Wayward play as small forward last year ( Injuries to Heeney and papley) before getting a bit more minutes in Midfield .

I actually totally get what he means: Basically other than a few isolated outlier games, We've never had that guy outside the key forwards that can find the ball in the forward line and slot home 4 goals a game like it happens so much against us (I think it was Mick Walters that tore us apart when we played Freo this year)

For ages it was Matera that was our goal sneak and he played this role alright but nowhere close to consistent enough and his pressure was dogshit.

If we can find the guy that can perform that role for us we'll be in a better position to win alot more games.

Fair enough I see where you're both coming from now.......but that (7 goals 10 tackles) has never happened before and will probably be a long time before it happens again... yeah, we've never had anyone do that for us....but neither have 17 other clubs have had that happen for them.

Again, I'm still trying to work out what the purpose of that post was...all though I seem to get the impression it's just another negative post that Ben seems to thrive on lately.. but it's an opinion and you're welcome to it...

I remember listening to Paul Roos a couple of weeks ago on the Sunday rub podcast.

He was talking about identifying weaknesses in the list at the end of the year and trying to fill them with quality, late maturing bodies (Zorko, Barlow, Tim Kelly etc) and not heavily relying on 18 year old draftees to come in and fix all the problems.

It really resonated with me.

Not every kid is ready to play AFL at 18, some need a few years and don't come into their own until 21/22, these are the players we should be looking to bring in on the cheap, using some scouts to scour these leagues. We should also be trading SOME of our higher picks for ready made good players.

And then using a few picks on the best of the best youngsters and local GC lads.

Let's be honest , the good one don't want to come regarding exchanging draft pick by trading in good players , if Paul Roos is so great then Melbourne would had make finals last year , how many players they had Trade in that are pretty good . Hogan, Angus ,Oliver , Wilederman , viney all drafted in , apart from Lever I hardly see a high profile trade in star for them week in week out (Gaflett very inconsistent ) . If you want to build consistent model , look at Adelaide. Why sdyney exchange pick with port to get Florent and Wayward. Stop following Geelong or hawthorn model where players like to go there instead of GC .As for mature body or players that are age 19-20 , I suggest GCs go and raid Canberra Demon foemer GWS players who already had three rising star nominate in NEAFl .

Bernie Vince, Jordan Lewis, Jake Lever, Micheal Hibberd, Dom Tyson all good quality players they have bought in, decent recruits.

Also I don’t think you can blame Roos for Melbourne last year. Goodwins coaching has instilled them with a bit of a soft underbelly and they dropped games they were expected to win.

That is why I think we are half a chance against them. Cause they get ahead of themselves and drop games they should win.

When Roos was there in his last year , Melbourne is still a soft side , I still remember they get trash in his last two or three match and get hammer by the media that the players send Roos off with their soft play
http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-08-27/terrible-sendoff-for-roos

Lewis , Lever , Hiberd all come in after Paul Roos left . Vince get it from slyvia compensation pick , Dom Tyson trade to GWS with No 2 pick and they use it on Josh Kelly who is 2 years younger and already been rated higher than Dom .
If you want players that is more mature I suggest to look at Canberra Demon who had three Kids who nominatedfor rising star n NeA League, most of them left GWS academy and hoping to get draft this year or later .

Rather than focus on players, I think it’s just that we’ve been so ordinary as a team since our inception with injuries, a lack of development / continuity, poor delivery from the midfield etc. etc. that we haven’t generated enough attempts for our forwards to get the opportunity to kick a bag. We’ve certainly had the talent through the forward line at times.

Was’nt being negative at all.

Just wanted some facts because it always seems our small brigade always kick 1 or 2 and never carry on for a big bag.

And not sure if the above numbers in the post above highlight that or not?

All in all.
Still in the belief we need a general forward.

GC need continuity , if your team keep changing every year with injuries and players leaving especially those with AFL games experience , you can get players in but thing will not change . Last year alone GC losing Matera , Ablett and Saad. That is the reason I complain about playing Rosa and Risca type every week ,because once they retire those playing in NEAFL got no chemistry going coming in . Even you get two star players coming in there is no chemistry between them and swallow and Co.

Do you know what happens when you drop it to 4 goals? I consider 4 a bag in todays AFL.
