How is Ian Hill the only good option outside the top 5? First off it's April, secondly he's 174cm tall. I'd be surprised if he even ends up in the top 10 in the end.

I'd rather a Walsh, Rankine, Hately, Bytel or Smith. Plus we don't even know who the late bolters will be yet.

I don't know anything about the inner workings at the Suns but if Leslie doesn't get an opportunity this year he would be wise to look for opportunities elsewhere to make a name for himself.

All the KP players except for 2MP are either foundation players or from the 2010 draft class so they probably have 3-4 years left of prime years (27-30/31) before they decline so I am not opposed to drafting a KP player if they are the best available.

My thoughts were that in the worst case scenario if Lynch left and we had picks say 5 and 6 (FA compo) and Max King fell to us at 5 (say because he just did his ACL) and was best available I would take him and grab his twin brother Ben with the next pick. That gives them 3 years to develop properly behind 2MP, Day, Rory and May before becoming the spine of the next decade, and I would think the go-home factor is reduced to nil (unless they can't stand each other) as they would know this is their only opportunity to play together in the same team for their careers.
Getting twins would be excellent for marketing as well. However we really still need midfielders and rebound defenders. A lot of this talk depends on West Coast and Lynch ATM so it's hard to say.

That is a stretch. The Suns took a calculated risk knowing that the outcome could be anything from Top 5 to bottom of the first round. The Dockers didn't want that risk, which was part of the gamble the Suns were happy to roll with. The Eagles have played 3 games at home and still managed to lose 1 of them while defeating the Dogs and Blues in Melbourne is hardly a good form guide. If they are still on top of the ladder after 10 matches, with the Dockers at home, Port at home, Giants in Sydney, Tigers at home, then Hawks in Melbourne, they are genuine contenders. They have a tough enough Schedule that 10 wins is as likely a scenario as them getting 13 wins and playing finals. They are too proud to go down without a fight, but wait for the injuries to pile up and they will have to play rookies because they have no depth.
So is this essay

If Lynch stays load up with quality mids who can kick goals and have a crack

One is a forward a one is a defender.
Think max is the defender and he's the one who just did his acl so he might slide Down the draft order.

I really want Rankine and Jackson H both already play SANFL , lukosious will be bonus but will go at No 1 .

Max is the forward and Ben plays defender (because you can't have 2 x 200 cm guys playing full forward) but is capable of going forward

how about Sidebottom and Cunnington as ins for us next year, cant really see us getting a marquee mid so would prefer a couple of hard nut blue collar inside guys

I think this type of player would be perfect for us but we are not getting either of those 2 - they are heart and soul players of your club that are on long-term contracts

Sidebottom contracted until 2021 on reported 5 year $2.75m deal

Cunnington signed on until 2020

Best we can hope for based on where we are at is a Josh Thomas, GHS type who want more opportunities.

A kid I really like the look of is Bailey Williams from Dandenong Stingrays (198cm; 95kg) who is a state high jump champion with a NicNat / Jeff White dominant style leaping ability, best ruck in last year's U18 carnival as an under-age player (I know Crossley made the AA team as a ruck but this kid is a legit AFL ruck) and is playing almost exclusively forward this year - kicking 7 goals this week in the TAC Cup.

Probably predicted to be a late 1st rd pick this year and given the plethora of talls only really become a viable fall back option if Lynch leaves and we select a couple of mids early in the 1st rd.

Did we go after george horlin smith as part of the Ablett trade ?

He would be a good pickup.
played a great return game for Geelong on the weekend 26 disposals 2 goals 5 marks 8 tackels 6 clearances

Don't quote but I think I heard they offered him up as part of the trade and we knocked them back

yeah you are probably right think we had our sights set on Duncan and that's it.
I reckon Dew would love GHS

GHS looks great in an already great midfield. Imagine Lyons at Geelong. We need to go for dynamic players not dime a dozen inside players.

Agree but we also need to be realistic
