good post! Any reservations about the Dees after mauling us before?

Agree, our maturity and ability to claw back has been a big feature this season..harder longer(?)..should serve us well in tough games ahead..

We nearly beat the Dees after losing Darling after a few minutes. That left us with no tall forwards and we threw Gov forward which ruined our backline.

In finals we will have Gov down back, Darling and Kennedy up forward. That's a huge difference. I'd back us to win for sure.

Anyone know if you can punt on the all australian captain etc? Cant find any markets on sportsbet

Was gonna ask on the freo board but why would they know lol lol lol

The teams in 5th to 8th are quite strong this year which could be difficult for us. GWS with players back will be a threat along with an in form Geelong. Sydney are always there abouts and who knows what Melbourne are capable of.

If I may - that game they gad shitload to play for and we lost a key player very early. Not sure it was a mauling as such, rather a good tight contested game.

They do concern me if they got through but we'd be up for the fight I reckon
Will be watching it again (after I watch the last half of Lions), but I guess it felt like a maul in the midfield with Gawn,
not so much on scoreboard...Yep with JK+JD and arguably the best backline, we should handle them differently..

I want to see if Darling really fires this final series, his track record to date in finals isnt great.

When we went deep in 2015 he didn't fire a shot, culminating in that horrendous dropped mark in the grand final.

Time for Jack to attone and make us proud in 2018 and to finish off what has been a great season for him
Didn't know his record was that bad pre GF?...he seems to have made a statement this season towards his critics and if he
gets to the GF now, you'd reckon he'd be fully aware of of his past performance and would be seeking to fix that?
Has played well this season and coming back recently..

Oh Nooo, not Eyore...maate, there's medication you can take, it helps!
On the flip-side, it's a different season, we may excel this time and it won't matter at all if and when Gaff leaves!!

I think the team is much more experienced and seasoned now. 3 years ago Gov was 22, Gaff was 22, Yeo, Redden and co all 22.

West Coast's list reminds me of Richmond's last year and the year before. Pretty unknown apart from a couple that soldiered on and used their maturity to win games.
redden wasnt even here in 2015

You need to re-watch the first quarter of the elimination final against Port from last year. Darling tore them apart and it was the lead he helped establish that allowed us to hold on for the second half.

He also had a great final in 2011 against Carlton, helping us get over the line in the last quarter. I think he gets unfairly blamed for one dropped mark in the 2015 grand final where all the other forwards also went missing.

Should beat pies in week one, 3 of the 4 potential opponents in a home prelim will be very tricky (hawks/tigers/swans).
Need the crowd to get into full ''rabid dog" mode.

Hawks/Tigers/Melbourne/Geelong

If we win our first final I'd love Hawks in a prelim. The other three would be very prickly indeed.

Jetta has been a whipping boy for years now but he's been in some decent touch recently and could be really for POD come finals time with his dash and kicking.

Hawks just over the Tiges
GWS beat Sydney
Geelong fall over the line against Melbourne
We arrogantly beat the undermanned Pies

Week 2
Richmond over Geelong
Pies over GWS

Week 3
Hawks beat Collingwood
Eagles destroy Richmond at home

GF
Darling takes a chest mark and kicks the sealer

Pretty amazing we could be 3 wins away from our 4th Premiership.

Really hoping we can have a month of fully fit players. No more injuries.

LeCras Kennedy Ryan
Rioli Darling Cripps

Get the ball in there enough we can do some damage.

Reckon Melbourne are underrated, have come good at the 11th hour, full of belief, may go deeper than people think..
Also if Swans get up and somehow we face them again, well, it's 2-0 this season...
And crucially - Yes to no more injuries!!

I'm quietly confident we'll get the job done against Collingwood. I think they've been playing out of their skins but this is about their limit. Could be wrong, but that's how it's looking to me.

Not too confident we can go all the way but definitely think we're a realistic chance if we bring our early season form.

It's quite something that any of the 8 teams could snag the flag this season. As I've posted previously, Richmond are stand outs, we're second stand out but the other six teams could beat anyone on their day

My finals prediction.........Daniel chick to be front page of the West Australian the day before the grand final. West coast to defeat Melbourne by two points after a controversial head high tackle on shuey........shuey then goes back and slots the sealer after the siren. Gaff and Naitanui to share simmos premiership medal on the podium. Gaff then to be crucified by journalists the next day for staring down brayshaw through the whole trophy presentation. Masten front page with tattoo across stomach “such is Masto” - found with illicit drugs, gaff comes out saying he doesn’t want to be part of a drug culture at west coast - Melbourne picks gaff up through free agency - is talked in the same bracket as Judd, Martin, Dangerfield and Ablett - gaff wins 2019 Brownlow. Robert walls re-appears only to say that 2018 is yet again a “tainted” premiership and that we should in fact return the cup, another 12 years before another premiership. - at least we win the premiership
