The Lynch thing could go 2 ways IMO.

1. The AFL offer him an exuberant amount of money like has been spoken about and even though he wants to come back to VIC he stays.

2. He tells the AFL no amount of $$$$$ is enough to keep him and he comes to Hawthorn on a contract around the $800,000 - $900,000 mark even though other VIC clubs offer more.

Pretty much says that in Bucky’s opinion Hawthorn will be better this year than last, will still have a great coach, will have plenty of cash to spend and will be in the box seat for Tom Lynch.

Tom Lynch would be an amazing pick up but there are also heaps of other talented free agents up for grabs, including Tom McDonald, Gaff and Dahlhaus. I hope we are fairly active and pursue at least two free agents next season. Also potentially offloading some of our veterans in the 27+ range for some picks in the super draft.

The time to trade them was this year for future firsts or seconds and we didn't

just can't see lynch happening. would need to spend near $1.5m pa which is something we just don't do.
If it’s money he wants the AFL will keep him on the Gold Coast with all sorts of incentives.

I don’t know if money is what drives someone to leave the Suns, though.

That ship has now sailed.

ALRIght so with lynch in the bag maybe we should use our first rounder to trade in Whitfield
Nah you get Lynch and Gaff as free agents then pick up some gun kids in the draft

Chat live with recruiter and list expert Gary Buckenara about your clubs’ 2017 trade period
20 October, 2017

THE 2017 trade period has concluded on Thursday but already attention has turned to who might be available next year and there is one name on everyone’s mind — Gold Coast star Tom Lynch.

Collingwood has already been heavily linked to Lynch, who will be a restricted free agent next year, but Hawthorn will have the money and appeal to make a huge play according to recruiter and list guru Gary Buckenara.

The Magpies haven’t made the finals since 2013 and Nathan Buckley’s team’s performance will play a huge role in its ability to attract one of the best young forwards in the game.

And that’s where the Hawks could swoop.

“Collingwood won’t be the only club interested in Tom Lynch,” Buckenara said in a live chat with Herald Sun readers.

“Many clubs including Hawthorn, Collingwood, Carlton, North Melbourne, Richmond and possibly St Kilda will have money to spend a great position for Lynch, not so good for Gold Coast.

“But Collingwood will need to make a huge offer to be successful in getting him and their on-field performance may have a big say in Lynch’s decision because from my point of view, at this stage, if I had to choose from those clubs and I wanted to play finals, then I would say Hawthorn would be in the box seat.

“And they will have plenty of money to spend.”
