Traded 2018 Live Trade: Carlton trade #4 (2019) to Adelaide for #19 (2018) and #9 (2019)

Could still go either way but on paper as it stands #8+#19 for #3 looks about fair but was not looking too good for the blues earlier in the year and maybe the Crows should have sacked pyke to make top 4 ;)

But say if Crows trade #3 for Lukosius then they would consider this trade as a win for their club and at the same time if Stocker becomes the player the carlton supporters expect then its also a win for Carlton.

But looks a fair deal now with no clear winner

Apologies here but I am failing to understand why some Crows think GC would entertain trading Lukosius (pick 2 in potentially the best ever draft class), for pick 3 in what is currently considered a fairly ordinary draft. JL has looked all over a quality player, his value has certainly not eroded.
GC are not about to be bent over just to keep Crows happy.
Honestly I would be surprised if they accepted 3 + B Crouch, let alone Jenkins or some of the other rubbish steak knives.

Right here, he had no idea... remember this comment? What if we finish higher than Adelaide! The guy thought you were going to finish higher than us. What happened?

SOS was responding to the ridiculous assertion that this was a bad trade for Carlton given it was a foregone conclusion that the crows would be top 8 and Carlton dead last. He was merely pointing out that no one knows where each side will finish, what if Carlton finish above the crows?

History will tell us that it was absolutely not out of the question that the blues very well could have finished above the crows, so yet again SOS was spot on and the crows delusionists still can’t get it.

SOS’ read on the direction each list is heading was much better than young Reid‘s. Crows were lucky that Bolton remained at the helm as long as he did or it could have been pretty ugly.

I’d be happy if our clubs swapped firsts again for next year ... how about you?

Reid obviously read the direction of Carlton better than SOS also then? Yes?

i remember saying in this thread I believe that this trade and SOS’s trades for Bolton would put Bolton in the firing line this year.

There would be no need in swapping picks because we will probably finish around the same position next year

This is one of those trades that is highly unlikely to ever have an absolute winner.

The CFC met all its objectives.
1. Got the player they wanted and rated at #6 for a pick #19..
2. Adelaides 2019 1st was always going to be earmarked for a player/s
3. The CFC got one year into a young player they rated highly.
4. The CFC did not rate the 2019 draft, highly.
5. The CFC 'budgeted' on 7 wins for the year and achieved it.
6. The CFC weren't as buoyant on what Adelaide may achieve in 2019, as much as many others did.
Would Carlton go back on the deal they made last year? Simple answer is NO.

Adelaide have a pick a little lower than for what they budgeted for and it probably didn't work the other way for them either, but -
We have yet to see what Adelaide will do with their pick #3/#4. Adelaide may not go to the draft at all and trade the pick fora player they desperately need.

I just can't see how one can possibly apportion an outright winner in this trade just yet....and may never really be able to.

Solid, and accurate post.

Just dont tell the rest of the Carlton supporters.

Of Carlton’s list? I don’t think so. As soon as the coach was replaced the list showed why SOS did this trade. You blokes got out of jail on this trade winding up a reaming for the ages. Behind on points, probably broke even on raw picks; who knows how the players will turn out, which is where the mustard has always been.

Yeah, I didn’t think Crows supporters would be keen doing that deal again this year.
