The more I think about it the more it stinks. Think about the biggest day of your life. Then add onto it travelling by plane, arriving in a new footy mad state, and staying in an unfamiliar hotel. Now try and get some sleep so your body can perform to it’s best. Add to that studies that show sleeping in hotels and new environments dont actually put your body into deep REM as your mind is subconsciously alert.
Compare that to someone already in Melbourne, going through the same routine. Going home to your comfy bed with creature comforts. The difference in performance from a whole team having on average an hour or more less sleep has to be massive

If the AFL won't move the GF, they should at least dictate that when the game is 'hosted' by an interstate team, the 'away' Victorian side also has to stay in a team hotel from Wednesday night

Nixon had been winding up Richmond fans all year that they weren't going back to back. If Collingwood lose he'll be a pig in shit because he's been saying the Pies are only where they are thanks to a super generous AFL fixture.
