Logue trained brilliantly, any one who thinks he won't make it doesn't know a lot about football. McCarthy holding onto his marks was a pleasing sign. Great session skill wise by the small forwards Matera and Balla's . Great to catch up with Sherriff and Clem.

We want more insights Salim

He looked like a footballer last season;) but now he is bigger, stronger and full of confidence . You name it he did it today. Pace, high marks, precision kicking.
He is definitely going to have an interesting career, and likely to have a bit of chat about his best position throughout it. Possibly accompanied by the classic athlete versus football debate. My hope is that he becomes a truly versatile weapon as opposed to a single position defender.

Yeah I have big wraps for him. The stuff that gets me excited about him is when he runs off his man or hits a nice kick. Good to hear he is progressing well.

To be fair anybody who wrote Logue off last year is a pretty poor judge of talent.

He's raw as hell, there's no denying that.

Was he ready to play? Physically, sure. But he definetly lacked that little bit of footy knowledge. Might take him a season or two more to put it all together but I have no doubt he'll get there.

I have great faith that sherrif will give us a megareport.

Agree completely with what Salim saiid although balla did fumble and miss a few kicks after Salim left. Blakely was another who was outstanding. For the record Im not sure how Logue didnt display excellent footy smarts last year. He missed a few kicks under pressure that cost goals in his first few games then it seemed to get blown out of all proportions on here with the view he lacks footy smarts. His body positioning and ability to read the game was outstanding in my eyes, with his ability to choose when to leave his man and help out a teammate in a marking contest a real feature in his play. Just because he fumbled every now and then (like most first year players do) doesnt mean he lacks footy smarts either. Anyway, he was great today demonstrating outstanding mobilty on smaller players and a wonderful long kick.

Skills were good today, apart from a few times a couple of players holding onto the ball for too long and copping a bake from a couple of coaches. Langdon and Giro did this more than once. There was plenty of excellent transition of the ball with Wilson again a standout in this area. Duman also fumbled quite a bit.

Crowdens handballing was very creative on more than a few occasions.

Neale and Spurr joined in everything today for the first time ive seen. Spurr has already done a heap of extra running and looks significantly slimmer and fitter. Neale dominated some clearance work and is also looking primed for a big year.

Mundy is definitely keeping up a lot better with the running and seems to have benefited significantly from not having an operation this offseason for the first season in a while.

Fyfe ran heaps of extra laps and joined in a few drills. Seriously looks in ripping condition running lap after lap at great pace.

There were plenty the gym today with Tabs, Hughes, Darcy, Apeness, Nyhuis, Meeks, Jones, Johnson, Alex Pearce and Kersten all spending plenty of time inside.

Made an effort to watch Banfiled's kicking and it seemed pretty good from what I could tell, but just a touch up and under.

For what it is worth Brayshaw seems a tad shorter than his listed height in person. He is definitely looking to become our next gun endurance runner though and was pumping out a heap of extra work after joining in most drills.

Im not sure this qualifies as a megareport, but I cant think of much else.

Thank you, sherrif and salim for the updates.

Re: Logue, I thought the opposite last season; physically he was fine but at times looked lost, like he was in between a decision and appeared to choose either, but that's just my opinion. If he has improved this over the preseason i'll be very excited to see him play and his growth this season.

Is there anyone in the rehab group? And is Fyfe just running laps/not participating fully because he played the IRS or was this on top of the group training.

I'm glad to hear there are a few boys doing the extra running.

One last question, who won the TTHD award today? (by the sound of it, it's Logue).

Fyfe participated in all the drills and sims that I saw. He took a nice grab in front of us and he has a pair of shiny golden boots. He swapped them for a pair of black runners and pounded out lap after lap after the sims.

The rehab group included Matthew “cut” Taberner, Michael Apeness, Ryan Nyhuis and Ryan Darcy, while I don’t remember seeing Cerra or Switkowski participating in match sims this time, just running. Switkowski has a distinctive straight back gait.

Candidates for TTHD award would include Matera, Logue, McCarthy and Grey.

There were a few passages of play where Matera showed his roving skills. Sandilands was in the goal square and being held down by defenders (like normal). The ball was kicked in towards the top of the square. Sandy reached out and palmed the ball perfectly to Matera who was running into goals. Matera kicked a few goals in quick succession. He also spoiled a kick from a defender, resulting in a turnover goal.
Logue was as good as both Salim and Sherrif said. Contested marks, intercepts marks, good running, excellent kicks. As he gains in confidence I don’t think the accusations of athlete first, footballer second will continue.
I nominated McCarthy because of a nice lead and low mark in front of Hamling. Cam got some good separation from our best defender. His kicking was good today too.
But the winner goes to Brady Grey. Kicking, tackling and the ability to know when to lead forward of the ball and deliver a goal or three. I didn’t see him make any errors today.

Mitch Crowden is a very clean player in close. Today we saw more of his classy kicking and his handball while being tackled always finds the target.
Giro has terrific speed. A couple of good passages with his speed on display today.
Tendai may have joined the assistants coaching panel; spent virtually the entire session involved in the drills.
I didn't see Sean Darcy or Taberner out there today.
Ross Lyon doing a bit of applauding with some of the forward entry drill.
Any player who wears shiny gold boots needs to be extraordinary; Nat Fyfe can get away with it.....fair dinkum they looked they were gold plated.

Outstanding reporting gents. I'm really excited by Logue's kicking potential among other things. He didn't really pull the trigger on long kicks last year but he seems to have a huge hoof on him. I'm in the camp that liked a lot of what I saw from him last year. Particularly his ability to win the ball in a contest, lightening reflexes.

No probs. Ill agree to disagree with you on Logue. Thought he was indecisive with ball in hand in his first few games, but dramatically improved with his level of decisiveness and decision making after that to the point his decision making was excellent for a first year player after half a dozen games or so. His defensive positioning was outstanding in my view as most first year players get caught out in that area. Griff had very few goals kicked on him by his direct player bar the Richmond game, again that is very rare for a first year player playing in defence.

Rehab group is Tabs, Hughes (who still has a wrist injury) and Nyhuis from what I can tell. Tabs kicked the football today so he is definitely not far away and is running a lot more. The blokes coming in and out of the gym all seemed fine.

Fyfe joined in quite a bit, but not all the 3/4 ground match sim play. Took a ridiculously good mark in one of the match sims. His awesome dynamic marking is back. Again he was positioned as the deepest forward player quite a bit.
Connor Blakely would win my TTHD froom Logue and B.Matera.

While we have everyone bar Harley either in or close to full training Natinui and Kennedy absent from training while Shuey and Yeo in rehab at West Toast. Gold Coast preparing to receive a bonus top 5 pick.
