Gonna be versatile for certain, even if mostly in the back line initially.
Got a helluva left peg .Will become a damaging addition to a brigade of very educated lefties we've gathered.
Defensive counterattack weapon.
Once he picks up the pace and settles into the subtleties of his role he'll likely tackle like a truck as well.

With Logue - do they see him as someone who can play on the smalls in the way Sutty used to?

I'd think Hughes would take a smaller size forward than Logue but I'm sure he'll be expected to show versatility in regards to his opponents size. The best defences do.
For me it'd mostly go Hamling taking the FF, AP the CHF, then Logue the next tallest followed by Hughes but they'll rotate and swap during the games.

Feeling like I need to skip work soon to see some of thes newbies in action.

What’s the best day for a would-be training watcher to take a mental health day?

Re: Logue, I thought the opposite last season; physically he was fine but at times looked lost, like he was in between a decision and appeared to choose either, but that's just my opinion.
Agreed, there were times where I just felt that he wasn’t sure whether to pull the trigger and go for a more attacking option, or pick a safer 30m chip. If his decision making has come along then he’ll be a valuable weapon

All you suckers who jumped off Logue after one season as an 18yo are going to go down in history alongside those guys who sold their Google shares for nothing.

Buy low, sell high - that's why I took him in the buddy draft. By this time next year people will be offering me the #1 pick for him.

Any of the 3 days a week they train.

Monday or Friday give you the added bonus of extending your weekend. Wednesday breaks it up a bit. All solid options. Surely we’re due for a time trial soon - probably want to avoid that day

I'm guessing it's the 2km trial today, nobody at training.

One of the trainers down there said the players have the day off. The only players who are there are those in the rehab group apparently.

I have no idea why they need a day off considering they just got back from 2 weeks break.

I think that was a bit of disinformation gaskin. I asked Tendai if they were doing the 2km and he just smiled and said 4 day break. They just had 2 weeks off, can't imagine they would need another break - I suspect they've all been told not to say about the 2km.

He didn't say "no", just avoided the question :)

Hi Guys, hope you don't mind the intrusion. I got dragged along to Freo's training the other day with some family while on holidays in Perth. Anyways I decided to do a bit of a report while I was there. They've done a pretty good job with the facility down there.

- Gee Crowden has some skills. He mainly jogged laps before spending the last half hour or so on set shots - curled a few beauties from behind the boundary line at the end for a bit of fun. Hardly saw him miss a kick.
- What interested me the most was that Alex Pearce split his time between the defenders and the forwards, could be seeing a swingman role in 2018. He was dominant down back in some match simulation drills before going head-to-head with Michael Johnson in a forward role.
- Duman is very fast - Ballantyne was in most of the drills with him and couldn't keep up.
- Apeness is pale as buggery and still doesn't really have the body shape you'd expect of an AFL player.
- There was a big bloke who pulled up next to me and I could have sworn it was Suma, but I'm sure I was wrong...
- Logue kicked on his right foot for 80% of the session, I reckon. Nice to see players working on their non-preferred so readily.
- Fyfe looked a class above the other midfielders bar Neale. Just knew how to find the footy and wouldn't miss a target all session

- Walters looked on and was hitting targets left and right. Set for a huge 2018.
- Jones went up against Meek in the ruck contests and I'd say that Jones is next in line behind Darcy at the moment.
- Won't say too much about it in case I was just reading too much into it, but Crowden looked as though he'd enjoyed the Christmas break a bit too much. A few of the coaches pulled him aside and they were having quite an animated conversation before Crowden was sent to do laps for the rest of the session. Good news for Ballantyne, I suppose.
- A lot of running work again, clearly a focus.
- McCarthy looked like he was doing a great job 'coaching' the younger forwards in between the drills. Dixon in particular seemed to be following him around.
nice copy pasta ;)

Ok since it seems Keys has gone AWOL and no one else is stepping up I made the call to head down for a bit, needed my footy fix. Took some notes, very interesting session, just ask for any more info.

- Gee Venables has some skills. He mainly jogged laps before spending the last half hour or so on set shots - curled a few beauties from behind the boundary line at the end for a bit of fun. Hardly saw him miss a kick.
- What interested me the most was that McGovern split his time between the defenders and the forwards, could be seeing a swingman role in 2018. He was his usual dominant self down back in some match simulation drills before going head-to-head with Mackenzie in a forward role.
- Bayok is very fast - Cripps was in most of the drills with him and couldn't keep up.
- Nelson is pale as buggery and still doesn't really have the body shape you'd expect of an AFL player.
- There was a big bloke who pulled up next to me and I could have sworn it was Suma, but I'm sure I was wrong...
- Masto was the player picked to kick the goal at the end today and nailed it. Celebrations were huge.
- No sign of Cole, Parto or Hill. Couldn't tell you why.
- Sheed kicked on his right foot for 80% of the session, I reckon. Nice to see players working on their non-preferred so readily.
- Mitchell looked a class above the other midfielders bar Priddis. Just knew how to find the footy and wouldn't miss a target all session. Shuey was very quiet and seemed to be taking direction from Mitchell. Doesn't bode well for his captaincy credentials, maybe he doesn't want the gig?
- Duggan looked on and was hitting targets left and right. Set for a huge 2018.
- Giles went up against Vardy in the ruck contests and I'd say that Giles has the inside running at the moment.
- Won't say too much about it in case I was just reading too much into it, but Rioli looked as though he'd enjoyed the Christmas break a bit too much. A few of the coaches pulled him aside and they were having quite an animated conversation before Rioli was sent to do laps for the rest of the session. Good news for Le Cras, I suppose.
- A lot of running work again, clearly a focus even in the heat.
- Petrie looked like he was doing a great job 'coaching' the younger forwards in between the drills. Darling in particular seemed to be following him around.
