A midfield spot looks to be open and he appears to be front of the queue or close to it. On the cusp? yes. Watch list? yes. Hoping he has a better JLT2 and gets a crack. The likeness to Shuey is uncanny.

Nope, the Demons love him. Have done since mid season last year. Was always destined to be a Dee. Good luck to the kid, he's a ripper. Will debut and debut early.

I understand the love for the small forwards but from an outsiders perspective, the kid looks to not only have an AFL body but the game that will translate to it. With Hardwicks love for contested ball players, Higgins should be playing round 1 imho.
WC will pump heaps of games into these rooks.
Venables our most talented and valuable. ..will smash games into the kid regardless of form.
Rioli and Ryan will get plenty of opportunities but will they score enough. ?

Still blows my mind Dusty is in 44% of teams and Danger only 34%
I have picked Martin over Danger at this stage only because I have seen Martin play. I know Danger is Danger, but I just want to see him on the track. I'm also pretty sure Danger is having or had a small op on his back? And will hopefully be right for JLT2. So this is a minor concern.
I could have this wrong and it may not be Danger because I can't find anything on it, but I swear he said it during AFLX.

Thoughts legends?
Would look at strengthening the forward line with the extra coin, but atm I'm pretty happy with having that in reserve for an injury to say lycett/o'meara.
Possible considerations (irrespective of $$) are ANB, Walters or Christensen swapped out. Eg:
ANB > Billings
Walters > Mundy
Any other ideas?
Melbourne fans, does ANB look like being more consistent this year? With better team form and scoring, I feel that Gaff crossed with I.Smith type play and scores are possible?

I’d probably try and upgrade Hanley and ANB but that’s just me. Nice team :thumbsu:

My final team is pretty locked I’m apart from rookies. LMAC the only one I’m not sold on. Thoughts?

You know what that means? A minimum of 22% have neither. Given there will be a heap that have both, there could potentially be 35-40% of the SC population that doesn't have either.
Sucks to be them.

99.9% don't have Hurn meaning I'm the only one who can win SC.
So long suckers :handwaving:

Hmm, in an attempt to further minimise the rookies on field I could go

Sloane > J Steven
Heeney > D. Smith
Billings > Christensen (F4)

Rookie > Hanley (which leaves Sicily at D5)
Rookie > JOM (M5)

I don't mind the guys coming in - I can see they are value picks.
The forwards, like last year, seem a mess - so I think going cheap could be a wise option.

Guys like Hanley and Sicily I could see as top 10 backs.

I'm just not as confident having Steven and JOM in my team, top mids are so important.

Really need to understand how many rookies are going to play, and score well.
Right now I feel the backs are the worst line for rookies, with mids easily being the best.

Sucks to be them.

Not really... if the key to winning Supercoach each year was to just pick last years top scorers and hit the rookies SC wouldn't be very hard, would it?

Given the game requires you to find value Danger and Martin exactly screaming 'pick me' outside of requiring a good captain option early.

Pick the non Danger/Dusty owner..

But seriously good point. Worth every penny though IMO.

You're correct in what you're saying. But pick Danger. Then go and find the value picks

dont have much confidence in the rookies at this stage but they will emerge(hopefully).

Forward line is giving me a headache. Robbie Gray was the only forward I was comfortable with and then he gets himself suspended.
The forward premis and rookies don’t look all that exciting imo.

Thoughts will be appreciated

Edit: can someone also tell me who is going to fill the void left by Ablett at GC

I started him last year, I don't mind missing out on some 130's if it means saving 100k in the process

Why is Danger sacred? Most years it hasn't been strictly correct to start the #1 mid from the year before.

Why is Danger sacred? Most years it hasn't been strictly correct to start the #1 mid from the year before.

2016 leader Dangerfield - avg. 134 in 2017 (up 3 ppg, #1 player)
2015 leader Goldstein - avg. 108 in 2016 (down 20, #13)
2014 leader GAJ - avg. 115 in 2015 (down 21, #5)
2013 leader GAJ - avg. 136 in 2014 (up 8, #1)
2012 leader GAJ - avg. 128 in 2013 (down 10, #1)
2011 leader Pendlebury - avg. 124 in 2012 (down 5, #2)
2010 leader Goddard - avg. 107 in 2011 (down 24, #24)
2009 leader GAJ - avg. 128 in 2010 (down 11, #2)
2008 leader GAJ - avg. 139 in 2009 (up 7, #1)
2007 leader Bartel - avg. 115 in 2008 (down 11, #3)

So from that the #1 player drops their average 7/10 times in the following year.

However, they remain a top 5 player 8/10 times.
With Goddard having a freak year, and Goldstein still being the #2 ruckman behind Gawn.

Obviously the little master skews things a bit, but Danger isn't far off GAJ in terms of SC output.

Did you start the little master every year? Again, correct in what you’re saying, it hasnt, i.e Goldy

But this is Danger, and in the history of SC, he is the closest thing to GAJ in his prime

I think he's more than capable of playing round 1, the trouble for him is if Bolton takes Rioli's place as expected, he's going to have to dislodge a premiership player to do so, on the back of 0 afl games. Will be tough.

I don't think Aliir is in the frame for a R/F role. That's Towers spot to loose. AFIK, Aliir will play in defence if he gets a spot.

I didn't say he'd score well. I just said he's a sneaky chance to play. :)
Dean Towers Ruck / Forward ? ......189 cm ?

I never get tired of your Oliver storys man..cont...:moustache:
