I check in and the first word I read is 'Seedsman'. :poo:

I'd like to think our club and supporters have learnt the lessons the past has tought us.

We spent the 80's going through other clubs hard-rubbish only to further cement ourselves in an era of dispair... in the 90's we traded out a club legend (Winmar) and threw away youngsters (Matthew Lappin, Joel Smith) to bring in Tony Francis, Tony Delaney and Monkhorst...
From Grand Finalist to wooden spoon we sank like a stone. :'(

Each time we climbed out of the wilderness it was on the back of investing in youth and 'our' players,
Seedsman, Hannebery, Lycett... throw in Daniel Wells and we'll have the 4 horseman of our apocalypse.
Really depressing stuff.

I agree it is overs, but what has his previous trade cost got to do with anything? It is irrelevant
He isn’t a bottle of fine wine, he played some good football for Collingwood and some flakey games and missed plenty.

That looks very much like the Seedsman that’s now playing for Adelaide, what’s changed to make him more valuable?

Not sure Seedsman would qualify as “hard rubbish” when his own club have offered him a three year deal. Injury history more of a worry.

Depends what you give up.

I honestly don't see how the young "leaders" will do any different to this year. They either got it or the ain't got it.

Lycett could be a 5 to 8 year player. Hanners, depends on his body. Seedsman is good for at least another 5?

Throws the age demographic back into balance.

Rather Seedsman over Hall for example.

Worst we could do is nothing and have another year like this one.
Totally agree though.. but that was my thought. If we give up, not much.. then 100%. You’re one earlier, say Seeds for 4 with 7 & 13 back.. yes. Then play around with those picks. We need something.

Surprising display of optimism on your part ;)

I'm optimistic most of the time....except when we do stupid things. We unfortunately give me lots of reasons to be pessimistic. I've been very consistent on the need to get top end talent into the club and that Richo doesn't have a good list to work with.

Top end talent comes from the top end of the draft, just because we stuffed a couple up doesn't mean we should abandon it. Getting a few okay players in is fine, we could do with some reinforcement but if we sell off access to a top 4 pick, it should be seen as what it is, stupid irresponsible behaviour and the culprits should follow Trout out the door. I don't care if it's down grade or how ever they want to sell it, it should be untouchable.

I'm not convinced about Lethlean yet, he could be the new Pelchen, sells the dream while wasting time.

I don't know if he is more valuable or less valuable. All I know is that his previous trade value is irrelevant.

Mate you get worried every year around this time. :)

It's the list manager driving the bus, trying to fill gaps and improve our list.
Plenty of reason to be, we have form.

If I was an incoming coach I would definitely like a say in who stays and who gets brought in.

It’s the coach who is held to account for the teams results. The list manager wouldn’t breathe without running it by me if I was taking on the job.

Who do you think should have the final call?

i want pick 4 only if we can get a kelly, coniglio or shiel we give it up

I see him around Koby Stevens level maybe more consistent though. He's a good fourth fifth best mid type at Adelaide. I'd think he's a late second rounder to mid third round level in a trade.

Big Footy...

Yeah I agree he would only ever be a 4th / 5th best mid in any side, but he brings what we lack - speed and foot skills. We currently have zero midfielders that are quick with elite kicking. Ask a Crows fan / read their board, 95% of them rate him highly.

I thought the coach's job was to build a game plan to suit the list?

Almost every time someone suggests we don't have the cattle for our game plan, the reply is that the coach needs to build his game plan around the players.

Yep, that's like a guaranteed gun, that's fine. Terry Wallace says they didn't improve until their board made the list management run every trade past the board for approval. Stopped using first rounders on players like Greg Stafford and Kane Johnson.

Coaches have a say on types they want though.

Yeah some of you guys are right, there's no point in trading anyone in because they're all shit.

Seedsman, Lycett, Hannebery, Gaff (last year), Fyfe (last year), McGovern, they're all spuds lol.:think::think:

No Gaff is not shit, Gaff is close to elite, Fyfe is elite. Mc Govern was not what we needed for the money but I'll take him before any of the others. They are in a different stratosphere to Lycett, broken Hanners and the Seed.

I actually remember him pretty well he was always a beautiful kick of the ball.

I can’t be bothered to look it up but I’m pretty sure the magpies were a bit surprised he wanted out. I could be wrong but I seem to remember he had some personal issues and requested a trade.

I think we could do worse if he wants to come but he’s not even in the conversation as the type of player you would entertain downgrading pick 3 for.

So he signed off on Tambling? Didn't Buddy go next pick?

Not what people on here were saying this time last year.

Gaff is a seagull, Fyfe will never be the same again lol. Same shit different year. Potting any potential trade of anyone because they will never be good enough.
