This system is screwed because the afl only introduced parts of it, the top clubs and the AFLPA love it so don’t hold your breath waiting for changes.

If the afl even try to restrict the clubs the free agents choose to go to, the AFLPA will be crying restraint of trade faster than you could blink.

They’ve screwed it up to the detriment of the lower standing clubs but the genie is out the bottle, very hard to get it back in.

Please....please..... PLEASE Saints, don't give our first rounder up.

No

*Go on then you big tease...try to tempt me.....

i was told 100% that any deal for hanneberry wont involve this years pick. we have to convince him first, once we've done that we can convince sydney to release him

but i think there's something else brewing for sydney which means he could come a bit cheaper pick wise as they will need to move him to get the other side of the deal done

having said that i was also told that summers would be interviewed by mark robinson and he'd talk about the coach review/staying on and going out on top.

Richmond will have to let go of a few to afford Lynch.

I'd prefer we throw a good contract at Houli rather than Goddard. Fills a need with his run and carry, still playing good footy and is a great character.

I like it. Thought Houli should have been Norm Smith actually.

Yes
As long as we don’t give 7 or 13 to the swans
You know it wouldn’t be both 7 and 13 along with Seedsman though. We will trade 4 and end up with Seedsman and Hanners and it will be a travesty.

I must be watching a different Seedsman Gringo? He takes some difficult options but to me looks like an amazing user by foot.

I always think of him as a shit kick. He was at the Pies.

Depends what you give up.

I honestly don't see how the young "leaders" will do any different to this year. They either got it or the ain't got it.

Lycett could be a 5 to 8 year player. Hanners, depends on his body. Seedsman is good for at least another 5?

Throws the age demographic back into balance.

Rather Seedsman over Hall for example.

Worst we could do is nothing and have another year like this one.

We won't have a year like this one IMO. We had a terrible draw and injury run and players go backwards, that usually results in a step up a year later.

I don't mind chasing players and Seedsman is an okay player but if we give up access to a top 4 pick for any player that isn't an absolute superstar we are just killing our long term future for the sake of desperation. Getting two okay players for a top 4 pick is unforgivably irresponsible. This is the pick range clubs get Buddy, Dusty etc.

This has the potential to embarrass us for years. It's literally a really high risk low reward spin of the wheel.

There’s no need to do that and yes the AFLPA would have a fit.

The way to beat them and save the system is in things like cap spend, short term contracts, cut and recruit up to June 30.

Free agency qualifying should only be shortened as a trade off for clubs being able to trade contracted players to their team of choice.

As it is system is broken and any arbitrary changes the afl make are just as likely to make things worse. Can you imagine the impact on us for example if Carlton and GCS were granted extra picks after their first rounders.

That won't happen, the most i can see happening is a downgrade which would still not please me

Surprising display of optimism on your part ;)

All this talk of Hannebery, lycett and Seedsman has me worried.

Firstly their not that good but surely the club should clear the decks before any decisions are made.

If richo and others are leaving then who’s driving the bus?

Gee I don't know cobber, I havent paid too much attention to his career, but I always thought he was a great kick.

Mate you get worried every year around this time. :)

It's the list manager driving the bus, trying to fill gaps and improve our list.
