So Basically the way the private school scholarship system works is that kids who are playing well locally at around year 7 -9 will get scouted by Private schools there are a few distinctions however. The more prestigious private schools are with in the APS competition. Don;t hate me for using this language but this is how it is. So These schools are Haileybury,Carey, Xavier, Scotch, Melbourne and Caulfield Grammar, Geelong Grammar Geelong College, Wesley, Brighton I may have missed one.True, but at what age are they doing that?
Now some kids although rarely are there from the start of high school with no scholarship but 90 per cent are on what they call 'General excellence' Some kids go to independant private schools which are not quite as prestigious. Such as Marcellin, Assumption, Trinity etc.
As a point of interest these are the players at the Saints who were at Private school probably on scholarships.
