If you want to know how good a space our salary cap is in... Will Setterfield is being paid nearly as much as Jack Billings. Wouldn't call myself an insider, just someone who loves the Saints who is occasionally lucky enough to hear something.
That's a bit weird considering 2018 was his second year and still on his rookie contract

This is actually very disheartening. So much cash & no one is interested in coming. ****ing depressing

Not sure if this has already been discussed but Dal says Hanners’ medical is done and he will be a saint.

I guess that’s good to hear that he’s passed the medical.
Very good indeed! Especially if he's good to go from day one of preseason.

Reckon he'll be keen to prove those who are saying he's cooked wrong and will look to have a huge preseason and smoke it next year.

HEART - Fk it -If Shiel wants to go to that carlscum rabble over us then so be it. Was dubious on Kings, but if they want us and love us then bring them on down, well, max anyway and ben later on - there's sometihing to be said about blokes that want to be there for a genuine love of a club

HEAD - Yeah nah, we'll fk this up and both the Kings will end up at GC, get Shiel.

St Kilda supporter Max, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury in April, has been completing rehab at the Saints’ headquarters in recent months.

Max said he would love to be drafted to the club he has supported growing up but understood there’s a possibility he could find himself drafted to an interstate club, such as Gold Coast or Fremantle.

“I guess that’s just a part of the draft (moving interstate), I guess whatever happens happens,” Max said.

I really hope you’re right. I’m not convinced he can. Sydney would want pick 4 and unlikely to let him go if he was healthy. Anything we get from him is a bonus as far as I’m concerned. If he can be 70% as good as 3 years ago he will still be a good player though.

I wonder if we could use him in another position if his body is shot? I watched a few Sydney games this year and he looked like a shadow of what he was. Maybe as a back flanker or something he wouldn’t need the explosiveness.

It does seem strange how the Swans never gave a fight to keep him , if he was rated by the team they would try there best to keep him.
Anyway Just hope he gets back to his best.

Ok I am not an itk but I have 2 sources in the club. Ik many say this but just wait until the end of the period and you will see that my claim is in fact true.
As for shiel, we have had a meeting with him over the last few days. The club are not sure of how it sits with shiel as he obviously didn’t tell them whether he would come but his manager was apparently pleased with the pitch ma3de to shiel.
If our attempt to get shiel fails, all is not lost as the club is desperately looking to use its cap space. Aswell as this , Lethlean wants a marque signing and will look to entice a player contracted or not if they can’t get shiel.
As for other I can say that the club has not asked about setterfield or kade koladjashnij and will not be getting either.
Contrary to many beliefs, jack scrimshaw is not generating really any interest from Victorian clubs. Hawthorn, St Kilda and Carlton are said to be interested but none have approached his management YET.my source says the club will only look to bring in scrimshaw in if other trades fail and if so it’ll be late on in the period (a sort of backup option).
I have no sources at St Kilda FC, have never spoken to a saints administrator or member of the coaching staff (other than Stan Alves in 2006 - note to all saints fans - never ask him why he took Brett Cook of the ball in the 1997 GF!!) and yet you've managed to enlighten me about absolutely nothing that wasn't public knowledge already.

I completely endorse your claim that you're not an ITK!!!

TBH I’m not that fussed with Shiel, I’d rather go for KELLY next year. Better player and just as gettable.

Not getting Shiel may cause some complications for us if we are then thinking about to landing big fish next year especially since we are committed to Hannebery this year. If there are any actual ITK's out there I'd love to know how we actually intend to get Hannebery!!

Lets say he's a second rounder - which we don't have ATM.

If we trade next years second rounder for Hannebery, we then can't trade our 2019 first rounder - so that further complicates any future trades which is not desirable . Ideally we want to avoid that by trading out someone this year for a suitable pick.

The Hickey trade looked a chance but that seems to have gone cold, Longer - meh!!!. Dunstan seemed a chance - that seems to have been knocked on the head.
Lonie as a second rounder - in your dreams!!!

Bruce to Collingwood? Acres to Freo?? Newnes to Sydney?? McCartin to Geelong? I'm not convinced that now is the time to trade any of those players.

So maybe we really do need the Shiel trade to work out for us this year. So how does Pick 4 for Shiel and Pick 44 (= Pick 7) and then trade Pick 44, 57 & 61 to Sydney (Pick 28) for Hannebery sound?

I hope the money sways him!!!

Time to pull the pin on Sheil , talk on SEN just before that we are willing to up the offer even more , talk about looking like a desperate club , we need to get some pride and say no more , if we have offered a great deal and he still doesnt want to come well let someone else have him .
And please dont come back at me saying if you want something good you have to pay for it , He aint worth twice what stuv is worth , best he has ever done in a B&F is 4th

I’m of the opposite opinion. If indeed our cap has that much space I’d be looking at paying him 2M in year one & then 1.3-4M every year after. Call it an extra signing bonus in year one. Just get it done. We need a circuit breaker.

Rooeys retirement exposed the list for what it is, reckon we just hit the draft and try develop A grade talent. Dont think we're ready for a shiel type. We gotta try get our hands on Pick 5, draft king at 4 and the smith kid at 5. Trade bruce for a second and hopefully pick up a slider with that pick.

How can we get pick 5 though? Only two players on our list worth that: Steven, Gresham. Which do we trade?

Agree. The original offer was too good to refuse, and more than the guy is worth. He is good, sure...but not THAT good. Shake another tree St.Kilda.

We aren't a desperate club?
