A challenge for the movie makers - Brad and Gaff in 'No Brainer' DJ Khaled, cause lets face it coming across should be a no brainer!

I might self combust if we sign Finlayson on top of everyone else.

I’ve wanted him ever since I saw him in his early games mid year and how much hes developed over the last 2 years.

I genuinely think he’s an AA defender in the making and can be as good as someone like Sicily.

Deadly raking peg on him and a great intercept mark and a great size. He’d play 22 games for us next year and be a serious weapon off of half back.

He’s been just about my #1 preference out of anyone for the last 3 months.

I have no media background whatsoever, but unless he has gotten massive cold feet at the last second, today has clearly just been damage control and trying to wrestle back the initiative.

Facts.

At the moment I know the club are exploring options with bringing Finlayson in it’s just all about the currency and bargaining power we currently have. We are certainly asking the question. Future draft picks may come into play.

Movement.

I’d deal either of Clarke or Preuss for him in an instant.

If we get Port’s 2 x 3rd rounders back with Polec, Melb’s 3rd rounder for Preuss and a Sydney pick for Clarke, we should have plenty of currency for Finlayson.

GWS are letting him go for salary cap relief, so he should come relatively cheap. Probably not Ahern type cheap, but still a good deal.

Just need him to nominate us. That’s where the momentum from other trades may play to our advantage.

In: Gaff ($); Polec [+2018 PTA RD3 x2] (2018 RD1); Hall (2018 RD4); Newman (Clarke); Finlayson (2019 RD2); Thomas (bid matched using remaining picks including whatever received from Preuss trade); Scott (bid matched using remaining picks including whatever received from Preuss trade)

Out: Clarke; Preuss; 2018 RD1, 2018 RD4; 2019 RD2; all picks received from Preuss trade, $$

Leaves our 2019 1st and 2020 1st intact for Kelly

T.Kelly decision rests on Gaff

Whether West Coast will make a play for Geelong gun Tim Kelly depends on if wingman Andrew Gaff stays or leaves for North Melbourne, according to The Age.

The Cats would reportedly be open to trading Kelly if they could secure a high NAB AFL Draft selection in return.

In other news:

- St Kilda will give Dan Hannebery a fifth season if he fulfils a quota of 70 games over the next four seasons, with a future second-round pick mooted as enough for a swap to be done, the Herald Sun says

- Passing a medical on a hip is all that stands in the way of premiership ruckman and restricted free agent Scott Lycett moving to Port Adelaide but there aren't expected to be any issues, The West reports

- Dean Kent could arrive at the Saints through the Pre-Season Draft via their No.3 selection, according to the Herald Sun
