what's laughable about that? he does not

Sorry i would like him at my club but in all honesty he ain't worth a pick 5,6 or 7 in this draft, you will say then we keep him but by all reports he is disgruntled so good luck with that.
Good luck with that or alternatively the club has 2 years to change his mind and maybe even offer more money etc etc..the options are limitless

pick 2 for weller...laughable (oh..it actually happened!)
And a third round pick .
Fremantle draft Weller at pick 13 in 2014 draft
Adelaide draft McGowan at 43 draft
GC give up pick 2 for Weller and pick 42

LOL if you want two first round without giving draft pick back ..

I never said they will get 2 1st rounders without something back. In fact I think it will be for 1 decent 1st rounder if it happens but if 2 are involved it might be pick 37 back

Pick 37 ? Hope you find that particular club .

As an aside, if it was a hypothetical of 2 1st rounders with the pick 37 going back, it would be very close to the Lever deal last year and he was uncontracted whereas McGovern is contracted
I said again , go and find your buyer if you think there is one . Is not wrong to put a player up for sell with an asking price , whether the buyer put an under offer or paid your asking price is another thing to consider .

Here is a quick list of the differences in the two scenarios I can think of;

- Weller: pick 14, 3 seasons into his career having played 47 of a possible 66 games. High potential young player.
- McGovern: So far into his career that draft number is irrelevant. What you see is what you get and that is an above average 3rd tall who has achieved everything he has playing 4th fiddle in a strong side.

- Gold coast: very poor on and off field. Constantly bleeding talent.
- Fremantle: very good off field. Good player retention. Poor on field lately but not remotely comparable to Gold Coast.

- Weller trade: Marquee type signing where a club has head hunted a player. Gold Coast NEEDED a signing at the time.
- McGovern trade: Has supposedly expressed a desire to break his contract and leave. Some clubs have thrown their hat in the ring in response.

I think his worth is about a pick in the late teens but given he is likely to nominate a club, I'd reckon they'll get him for less.

You also give up pick 42 , who give GC a chance to lottery pick a Mc Gowan, Dane Swan or a spud or Saad .

If he wants to leave the Crows will trade him. It's the done thing. If he is anything like every other player to break a contract, he will nominate a state or a specific club of choice. The Crows will then proceed to be reamed or opt to keep a player that doesn't want to play for them on their list. Not many examples of the latter occurring but plenty of the former.

Take this to the Bryce Gibbs board.

No, the reasons were what they said they couldn't pay him then signed Gibbs for more.
No, there's already been a public statement by Mark Ricciuto about that being a media invention.

Thanks for the good wishes. Yes, we'll be happy to keep him.

Weller is worth a pick late in the first round, tops. But he was contracted, so GCS paid massive overs in the most lopsided trade this century.

Why does it matter if he nominates a club? He can't threaten the draft.

We'll keep him, just like Carlton kept Gibbs.

Wow, never heard of a person from a club to come out and say no that's not correct  you expect him to come out and say he wants to leave because the club paid an incoming player more then he gets after he asked for more.

He's making a public statement that is easily measured. He's not going to lie over something that two people could easily check.

He made a black and white statement because it was a media invention.

You must be joking , 26 disposal today , weller playing every AFL game last two season AFL 66 games , compare to MM injured at the wrong time play only 44 games .

K... What do you feel is Adelaide's approach.. especially if they get another R1 with Sloane... do you feel they will on trade to get P1/P3 etc? Rankine looks like he may climb out of reach as well?

You know literally no one agrees with you, right?

That was a DISASTROUS trade and Weller has had a mediocre year. GCS overpaid wildly, because they had to.

Personally, I think they look to keep Sloane. They try to package up to get to pick 5 for Rankine.

I think they put pick 8, 12, 19 and next year's first on the table, as well as Atkins and Kelly.

I think getting from either 8 or 12 to 5 isn't impossible.

Of course, if McGovern goes, it's a different conversation.
