Just a bat first pitch bat first series situation, we have taken Lyon out of the game and given leach his best chance to impact a test.

imagine the pressure for England chasing a total trying to save the series now we are going to have to chase or survive late to win the series.

What did Paine and langer see here that made it bowl first?

His bowling is underrated. The problem with Marsh is he has never really been able to justify batting in the top 6

Early days his bowling was quite decent but it’s progressively got worse by the year as his focus has been more on getting his batting to a strong enough level.

These are his bowling averages since January 1, 2016

Has taken 27 Sheffield Shield wickets at 34.4 during this period too.

So:
They dropped Head, our 4th best performing batsmen, retaining Warner and Harris (two of our worst batsmen this series) to give the bowlers some respite with MMarsh's bowling, even though MM is one of the all-time worst #6, ever.
If that's not weird enough, they won the toss and bowl. :drunk: :drunk:
If they wanted to rest the bowlers or give them a break, bat for two days. That'd be a good rest.

Seriously, wtf?

This has something to do with Brexit, Boris, and the Queen 😆

Siddle did well at The Oval last time around, but if Cummins was really cooked, I'm surprised that they didn't just bring Pattinson in.
