You don't care because you're not interested in realistic expectations, and now we all know that.

You failed to observe their matches against Carlton during those years were in much more attendance-friendly timeslots. For this year's less desirable fixture to draw a crowd of equal size (actually, slightly bigger), it obviously indicates growth there.
Yeah the late Sunday game is never going to get big crowds so 9000 was a pass.

I know Collingwood are back when people start complaining about when our travel is scheduled again.

It’s always too early in the season, or too late, or too spread out evenly. We visit GWS and West Coast in consecutive weeks in July, I can’t wait to find out how that one is spun into a benefit for us.
In fairness it wasn't only Collingwood I mentioned, and i think it's a fair point I raised.

But it wasn't really a fair point. Vic teams travel away to non-Vic teams an average of 5 times each. (7 clubs x5 games, 2 clubs x6 games, Melbourne x4 games). That's exactly how things would still average out if the fixture was actually random.

That means by the half way point in two weeks time every Vic club should have made either 2 or 3 trips. I'm not sure there is a Vic team that won't have done that at the end of Round 11, so what's to complain about?

Collingwood travel this week, so we will be on 2, meaning a slightly more 'difficult' run (if you accept the proposition that any travel = difficulty) in the second half of the season. But you also had a shot at Richmond for having done the bulk of their travel already and thus having an 'easy' run home.

So I think you've ideally got to accept the reality of a competition where 10 of the 18 teams are located in one state. But failing that,at least be consistent as to whether traveling more early or more later is the 'easy' option.

Will be quite wet in Adelaide tomorrow, hopefully will still pull 40k against West coast. Usually get good attendances against them.

Next Friday Night between North Melbourne and Richmond could be ugly in both Attendence and Ratings.
The Friday night after that between Richmond and Geelong will be massive.

Yeah, because the first game of a new coach doesn’t raise interest levels at all.

34,649 at the SCG.

Considering that the Swans are rebuilding and were not expected to win and virtually losing every home match that is a great crowd.

It will be the biggest crowd to any code in Sydney this week by a mile.

Well done Swans fans you put many Melbourne teams to shame because as soon as they start to lose esp home games their crowds start to drop away quickly.

Rd 8 Swans v Ess Friday Night 26,502. Same time slot, similar big drawing Vic based team.

Collingwood surely doesn't have that many more travelling fans and Sydney based fans than Essendon. Win 2 in a row and marginal fans come back.

Collingwood are the biggest Victorian club in nsw. The Collingwood turn out whenever we play Sydney are big!!

The extra crowd is probably a split between Swans winning the last 2 games and that they were playing Collingwood.

By which I mean that Collingwood probably provides more fans but also that more Swans fans want to turn up when they play us.

We haven’t had a crowd under 32k against the Swans since 1996.

No they don’t. The Swans were on a long losing streak leading into into that Friday night game against Essendon. In addition, Longmire announced they were rebuilding / transitioning. Franklin wasn’t playing. All these factors impacted the Swans enthusiasm and belief in a win in this game. As is expected from Essendon’s these days, The Swans got up!

They have won two in a row since leading into last nights game against Collingwood. Franklins back. The Swans fans turned up in larger numbers naturally. Having said this, it was still well down on the Swans stronger Friday nights in years past indicating not all their fans were back last night.
