I am surprised this isn't implemented, seriously been some absolute donkeys play 100 games and have zero relevance to that footy club, yet it somehow holds more weight than a premiership which is forever cherished? bizarre.
I agree, even if it was 200 games or a premiership. Would still be better than just 100 games.

Would be strange that Marlion's kids would already be eligible for Richmond though! Or even Renouf's kids for us.

Should we be entitled to, for example, Dew's kids or even to be able to pitch for their service after 1 year on our list despite the multiple years , +100 games and a flag at Port.
I'd be pissed I'd Mitch, Hodge or Lewis won a flag in their superannuation years to then lose 'rights' to their kids after all the club did for them.

I am more concern that Brisbane will poach Hodgy’s kids through their academy while he is up there with them. Need to bring Hodgy home in the next couple of years

I'd be exceedingly happy with this draft if we came out the other end with Stephens/Kemp, Maginness and traded back in at 20ish for Elijah Taylor. We could do worse than taking Angus Hanrahan with a late or rookie pick as well. Perhaps a youngster like Tyrone Thorne who is a borderline midget, but a tenacious small forward. He's shorter than Caleb Daniel but as with Daniel you can see the footballer in him.

This is my dream scenario for this years draft, fingers crossed it happens.

For those comparing Day's height and weight to Fyfe when he got drafted, whilst that is true I could probably find about 50 other cases that aren't as favourable.

Father/Son should get preference over academies. It'd be an absolute wrought that he plays 300 games for us and his kids end up at Brisbane!

So teams can make trades again between 4-6 yet they will not become public until they go live at 6:30... Trade period all over again.

Anything for the ratings. Get rid of Gil already

I may be wrong but I think the post was aimed at players who had played less than 100 games with a club and won a flag. If Hodgey an co played 250 plus with us (for no flags) and then won a flag with another club I would be happy for the kid to chose. Fortunately, that is not even a remote possibility as it stands.

I fly out to Bali at 6.55pm...how's my luck???
Anyone know if I can watch a replay later tonight while in Bali, and treat it live?

I’m here in Bali right now, poolside refreshments and very pleasant company, life’s tough.
No AFL repeats on tv here but if you’ve got the AFL app you should be right to get any highlights.

I have no doubt the Hawks will pick the best available players and I will welcome them into the club.
However, if they need some gratuitous advice from someone who hasn’t seen any of them play try and get Robertson, Taylor and Maginness.
Disclaimer: the draft has always been a lottery where you have no idea whether you have won or lost for several years after the draw. I just hope McKenzie is feeling lucky.

Agree would love to nail this draft and stick it up Gil for a couple more flags.

I do agree but for every Fyfe you get another 50 kids that don't develop like that. I see the potential in him but i think we have more ready made players that will be available and have a similar upside as well.
That is exactly right, people laughing for trading out pick 11, if kept 30, have something like 23,28,30,37,42. The beauty with us is we need class on a number of lines, but say pick 23 for Maginess, then you wait and see who is the slider, say players like Wingman- Sharp, if a rivers/gould slips down, Thomson dow, williams/cahill- small forward, there will be more ready made players and you could get 2-3 instead of pick 11 on Day. I think most people will be happy if we picked up Kemp and you hope would be like a Burgoyne/Hodge who could play back/middle/forward or Stephens (I think you pay alittle too much if Sharp similar or only slightly less of a player and gets picked outside of top 30 / Robertson for pick 11.

If we get him then I’ll be stoked. He is exactly what we need and albeit not as talented could go a long way to filling the void Cyril has left. He would allow us to phase out Poppy and at the very least make Poppy earn his spot at selection this coming season. I won’t hold my breath that we get him but you never know.
By all accounts Melbourne want him at earlier pick. When I saw his video clip he had xfactor about him but AFL draft prospects had him at pick 44, would have been happy to use pick 42 if we were not using on Finn, even pick 30 based on video. However I think pick 11 seems to be for Kemp or that is consensus on this board if available.

A pick-by-pick consensus view
Consensus first round based on the "mode" or most common phantom draft selection for each club.

This shows no one really has any clue who Hawthorn will draft.

Might also be an indication of how tight a ship GW runs, which doesn't leak like a sieve :thumbsu:

I've been out of the loop. Can anyone tell me if the live trading of a future first is on the cards still?

And why is the draft now split over 2 nights?
The live trading of the future 1st still might be on.

The draft is over 2 days, like last year, due AFL wanting to prolong media coverage I'd think.
