Anyone have any idea on how many academy kids the club will be looking at? I’m a massive wrap for Bunderick, Dea and Gore. Stoked the Melbourne based media don’t rate them, though now I’m nervous I’ve mentioned them.

Why nervous, if they are Bowes Good they deserve to get bid in the first Rd , preuss, Bailey Scott ( after first Rd rising nomination just disappeared) , Crossley all show little consistency.

I reckon we'll take Connor Budarick, Hewago Oea and maybe one of Josh Gore/Matt Conroy.

I think GCS ask for two more cat B list spot purely FOR academy players. Brad sheer and Nutting could easily stay on rookie B list for max three years without getting delisted.

Apparently Dom Ambrogio is the man behind all of this.
He was the recruiter at the Suns that pushed hard for us to pick Ah Chee in the 2015 draft and he’s now the list manager at the Lions.

He was also the man behind getting Jarred Lyons to the Suns then masterminded the plan to get him to the Lions.

Your mob ought to get your list manager to raid his old club too.

I can't agree or disagree with you until he played a game for GCS, Murdoch cost nothing and GHS around pick 50+ and miles is roughly 4th Rd pick. Why not ask for pick 10 like couch ask for omeara as starting point. GCS still have a late first round to exhange with plus ah chee pick. Once deal done you can't go back I rather get another pick around 10-12 and gave up Brisbane first round and Ah Chee pick for gleeson type later. Look at Brisbane last year convert their 1 second Rd into multiple second and third round from GCS for licorn McCarthy, Marcus Adam, Noah anwerth, Berry, joyce, McFadden, etc, Still get two first round from Collingwood, and pick 19 from GCS. Gleeson type if you got 2nd round or early, third club will release them without much problem.

I could tell how the Club has bent over backwards for this guy and he wanted more $$ off the Club for producing very little in return. Very average IMO.

There's got to be a requisite for having earned your contract.
If players think they can get handouts without any production then they are not the players we need.

Our new offer is probably the same as what he's on now or maybe even considerably less. Something that matches his recent output given we're now being much more careful with our contracts to avoid the nasty salary cap position we were in last year. He hasn't played this year either because of personal reasons or injury. Either way we have very much supported him through that (as all clubs would)

Regardless, Ah Chee has just baulked and gone elsewhere to get either more than what he was on before or the same amount over more years. Club is naturally disappointed in that given he's been extremely well compensated, very much probably overly so, up until this point.

Correct me if I’m wrong but From my understanding the ah Chee contract offer of length was minimal due to the amount of games missed from injury and question over him willing to do the extra to get his body right? No point offering him a 4 year deal and only play 20 games because he has potential

And I think that Sam day was willing to take unders due to him and his partner building a new house and preparing to start a family and wanting to stay on the beautiful Gold Coast

You think if he believed in what the club were all about we could offer him a short contract with the chance to be paid at a better rate if he earned it.
A 2 year 250k deal for instance would probably be considered lowballing. Or he could bet on himself, work his ass off and put in 2 great years and be rewarded for it.

Conroy definitely got the athletic talent to play AFL.
He is mobile for a BIG kid.
Will be the type to not be AFL ready until he is 24 I reckon. Could be good timing with Witta around 31 by then.

You'll find that's because people up on those main boards see a Gold Coast flair and see fit to take pot shots, It's only cute to cheer for us when we're about to upset a team someone doesn't like.

I mean do beams really worth two late first round. Settlefield and Kennedy, Devon smith all went to another club with second Rd pick. Martin is way better than settlefield and Kennedy.

GWS top 10 draft picks Ahern, Pickett, Plowman all given away for nothing.
Setterfield was a pick 5 and they got a 2nd rounder in return really. Schache pick 2.

I’m not sure KK, Hall and Scrimshaw were worth all that much really. The Lyons trade in hindsight looks poor agreed.

I find it odd that no one in the vfl media has mentioned Carlton won only 2 games in 2018 with a percentage of 59.3.. suns have won 3 with percentage of 60.5 so why were there not calls for them to close the doors and move to van diemans land

Arguably the best inside mid in the draft likened to patty Cripps.

Green is in the GWS academy so would be interesting to say the least.
