I like Laverde, he looks dangerous up fwd and his pace could be a weapon for our midfield, I think your assessment of martin is fair

Mark Baguley might be lured out of retirement and you wouldn't have to give anything for him.
I'm not sure we've got any players you'd like or need; Laverde's just getting his body right, finally. He can played a mid/forward role. Zaharakis could bring your young guys some maturity. It feels like EFC has lut Laverde's name up, perhaps to work towards securing the compensation your club would want, or to help it.
What's Martin's tank like though? Will he still be working both ways and collecting possessions in the 4th?

I actually like the suggestions of both Ridley and Gleeson. Particularly Gleeson as long as his ankle / knee is right after that lay off.
Our half backs are Hanley who is cooked, Weller who we want further upfield, lukosius has been building in that role.
In my mind Ridley is the same style as a former sun kade kolodjasnij or what the idea of jack scrimshaw is. 190cm or so, nice kick, can take an intercept mark. Is that around the mark? Why was he out of the team this year after getting a few games early? Was it injury?
I would definitely take Ridley / Gleeson and a pick in the 30s for Martin.
Provide us some more experience and in an area of need.
I would value Martin a pick in the teens so a decent player plus a later pick certainly fits the bill for me.

I don't think GCS should just fix on a player and a pick 30, with Brisbane first Rd pick, Martin Pick and Ah Chee pick, GCS can be flexible with those pick with multiple second and third round and get whoever they want, especially ridley/gleeson type. Omeara trade was a great example of pick 10 and gleeson type.( too good for Neafl and not good enough for AFL).
Gleeson is one of those clutch players who you know won't squib a contest, even though is frame is slighter. Plays tall and small, and Bomber fans would not be happy to see him traded. He returned from injury strongly, making seniors after only a couple of VFL games, and had an immediate impact on our backline.
We're flush with backline talent atm. Many on our board have been perplexed by Ridley's non-selection. Plays as a hbf and could easily play on a wing. Quality user by foot and again, I think, can play tallish or small. Both of these guys are competing with Redman and Francis for a role. Saad, McKenna, Hooker, Hurley and Ambrose are locks in the back six so there's not a lot of movement. This is one of the reasons I was open to trading Hurley earlier, but he's proven indispensible in the last few weeks - another year and finals hopes and then reevaluate.
Both Ridley and Gleeson are quality players with massive upside. I think they've trained under Pops Kelly. They would offer a bright future for your backline and I'd be sad to see either of them go. I do think a running receiver and distributor is an important need for us though. If Martin chooses us I'd hope that's his role.

A high first rounder and either of Gleeson or Ridley is really stretching the friendship. Dodo wouldn't do it.

Gleeson is a good AFL player. At least I'm a big wrap for him. At 25 years old and 80 games, leads by example on field. I think he'd be a certain best 22 and add a lot to the group.
He is easily better than any other mature pick up we've had lately - better than Miles, GHS, Murdoch etc.. those guys do straddle that NEAFL/ALF gap.. Miles definitely more AFL but the others less convincing.

Pick 18 or 19 if it can be somehow be turned into a good player.
Laverde is 5 years in the system and most games in a year has been 9. No thanks.
