Gleeson is a good AFL player. At least I'm a big wrap for him. At 25 years old and 80 games, leads by example on field. I think he'd be a certain best 22 and add a lot to the group.

He is easily better than any other mature pick up we've had lately - better than Miles, GHS, Murdoch etc.. those guys do straddle that NEAFL/ALF gap.. Miles definitely more AFL but the others less convincing.
I can't agree or disagree with you until he played a game for GCS, Murdoch cost nothing and GHS around pick 50+ and miles is roughly 4th Rd pick. Why not ask for pick 10 like couch ask for omeara as starting point. GCS still have a late first round to exhange with plus ah chee pick. Once deal done you can't go back I rather get another pick around 10-12 and gave up Brisbane first round and Ah Chee pick for gleeson type later. Look at Brisbane last year convert their 1 second Rd into multiple second and third round from GCS for licorn McCarthy, Marcus Adam, Noah anwerth, Berry, joyce, McFadden, etc, Still get two first round from Collingwood, and pick 19 from GCS. Gleeson type if you got 2nd round or early, third club will release them without much problem.

Non crypto
Don't just take whatever given or suggested by opposition club use what you had and try to be flexible.

With people here starting to doubt 2mp, maybe Clayton should had draft Weller instead of him to avoid so many unhappy ending and who don't keep their mouth shut.

I've had it absolutely confirmed Ah Chee is going for money and Brisbane have promised to get it done.
SO l'm told.
Apparently Dom Ambrogio is the man behind all of this.
He was the recruiter at the Suns that pushed hard for us to pick Ah Chee in the 2015 draft and he’s now the list manager at the Lions.

He was also the man behind getting Jarred Lyons to the Suns then masterminded the plan to get him to the Lions.

They want a team of Ballard and McPherson types very mentally tough and committed.
Makes sense considering we've never really had that kind of culture. I'd hazard a guess to say most of the original crop weren't that committed to working hard and thought it was just going to happen on talent alone. The guys that have stuck it out like Swallow and Day are the types we want at our club because you know they are going to give you 110% regardless of where we are on the ladder.

So at this point it looks like we could land Betts, Burgoyne, Hugh Greenwood and Isaac Smith this off season?

If we could pick up at least 2 or 3 of those players you mentioned that would be huge for our club.

Talk about a confidence boost

Dirty Dom. Almost like leaving your previous employer and stealing their intellectual property except in this case it’s physical property. :poo:

I imagine it's something along the lines of that Ah Chee extended during the Clayton era and as a result, probably extended on overs.

Our new offer is probably the same as what he's on now or maybe even considerably less. Something that matches his recent output given we're now being much more careful with our contracts to avoid the nasty salary cap position we were in last year. He hasn't played this year either because of personal reasons or injury. Either way we have very much supported him through that (as all clubs would)

Regardless, Ah Chee has just baulked and gone elsewhere to get either more than what he was on before or the same amount over more years. Club is naturally disappointed in that given he's been extremely well compensated, very much probably overly so, up until this point.

Something like that, anyway.

I think Sam Day would have done the same. Baulked at the re-offer terms. But eventually he came around and re-signed because of how much we've probably overpaid him up to this point.

If gold coast keep 2017 second Rd pick, select Tim Kelly and he star for Gold Coast, most probably worth late third or four, acoording to main board people, out of contract and want to go home.
