AGhhhhh here we go. This season has been one of the hardest to pick a team i reckon.

I don't have Macrae but that 90k gap to the nearest mid really helps free up cash elsewhere. He has been in out of my side though, usually at the expense of Merrett and Lloyd.

Pretty settled now with Goldy at R2. Don't think it's wise to go cheap there, and I see Gawn as being at his peak really.

Rookies are always heinous to pick, my tactic is usually just chuck in whoever's named round 1, which usually ends in failure but always a few surprises.

Pretty happy with this and I can only see 1 or 2 big changes happening from now until teams are named round 1

My comments on this are brief, because overall i like it. Are you assuming (betting on) Steele becomes a keeper for you? If not i dont see much to gain with him value-wise. If you are taking a shot at him being in your rolling 22, i understand and go with it. If not, i would swap him out. Same for Billings

Not going to comment on rookies/Scrimshaw types. They get sorted out with JLT.

Last comment is just that i dont personally feel the Goldstein pick, but i wouldn't tell you not to do it.

Well done overall

Ok. So given the lack of basement priced rookies at this stage, I've deleted my team and started again working from the bottom up. The rookie selections are based on those most likely to play round 1 (based on team selections for JLT2) and ignoring those that have really limited scoring potential.

DEF: R.Laird, B.Smith, Z.Williams, J.Ridley, J.Clark, X.Duursma (Hore, Cumming.......{cough})

MID: J.Macrae, P.Cripps, A.Brayshaw, J.Steele, B.Crouch, S.Walsh, LDU, Z.Butters (Gibbons, Atkins)

RUC: Grundy, Gawn (A.Smith, Cameron)

FWD: Dangerfield, Heeney, T.Kelly, L. McCarthy, W.Setterfield, W.Drew (Parker, Burgess)

Leaves me with 62K. (edited to correct only 18K left. Not sure why it showed me 62 originally......)

I'm going to live with this over the weekend and see how I feel. Players like Laird, Steele and Gawn I've not had in before today and feel there may be better value elsewhere.....

Thoughts appreciated.

yeah look goldy doesnt please me as much as gawn does, but the cash is just so useful, everytime i switch back to gawn i feel so threadbare elsewhere.

My comments on steele are that yes i see him as a keeper, finishing up as an M7 or M8. Finished the year strongly, is a gun, tackles like few others, Steven is missing, saints have a good early draw, and has had a strong JLT so far. He hasn't left my team. Same goes for billings. he was strong when played in the right position and I'm counting on that being the case this season.

Verdict on this Ridley bloke? Has looked solid over JLT
Nearing 21 now, third season.
Still in my mind after his 89 on debut last year as a 170k but he got injured after 3 games iirc.
Played Rd 8-10.
Looked good last week, bobbed up for a goal last night. Not sure where he stands but most speculative players are just place holders til round 1 teams, then we'll all scramble for named rookies like Scrimshaw who may then get dropped once the season hots up, forcing trades just to field a team.

I like it.

Hard to argue against Laird at D1 and two seriously discounted defenders in Williams and Smith. Ridley and 2 on-field rooks a risk, but **** it you gotta take risks somewhere.

Solid mids - good balance of premo premo and potential breakout premo plus rooks that look the goods for JS and scoring.

Forward structure identical to mine and pretty much the same characters so needless to say I ****ing love your forward line.

Is seriously cheap. Not too far a reach to go him over a rookie too. Would love to know his JS... DynamiteDons ?
i think its hard to read what Essendon will do, i think he probably deserves a go, but i have a feeling, Essendon will try and keep a structured line up, in which he'd probably be on of the emergencies and then if any other injuries occur, he could come in then.

In absolutely, categorically, no way knee jerked fashion.....

B: Lloyd, Newman, B Smith, Williams, Scrimshaw, Watson - Hore, Burgess
M: Macrae, Coniglio, Brayshaw, Rockliff, B Crouch, Libba, Cousins, Walsh - Scott, Hind
R: Grundy, Gawn - Rookie, Rookie
F: Dangerfield, Boak, T Kelly, Setterfield, Parker, Rookie - Rookie, Rookie.

32K left over. 1K short of Scrimshaw - Duursma in defence....

Lol same mid just constable for hind.

Hopefully a bit of a different team, think I'm pretty happy for now

B: Lloyd, Witherden, Smith, Williams, Ridley, Scrimshaw (Duursma, Hore)
M: Brayshaw, MCrouch, Rocky, BCrouch, Libba, Walsh, Drew, Constable (Hind, Bewley)
R: Grundy, Jacobs (Smith, Cameron)
F: Danger, Heeney, Kelly, Fisher, Worpel, Setterfield (Burgess, Parker)

$163k left meaning I can go Bewley to Butters is needed

Version 4

DEF - Lloyd, Newman, Williams, Smith, Duursma, Clark (Collins, Scrimshaw)

MID - Macrae, Cripps, Bradshaw, B.Crouch, Liberatore, Walsh, Cousins, Constable (Bewley, Gibbons)

RUCK - Grundy, Gawn (Fort, Cameron)

FWD - Dangerfield, Heeney, Boak, Elliot, Setterfield, Drew (Burgess, Parker)

Very similar team to me. Iv got a couple cheaper premium players which lets me have an extra premium forward.

I would drop Coniglio down to a premium with more value and play with the extra cash. Mrouch, Zerrett, Steele or Taranto are good choices IMO.

Pretty Happy with this bad boy heading into the final two days of JLT. Need some other eyes to check over it to make sure im not being bias with my crowies! 11k remaining. 1552179795441.png

Taranto is a really hard one, did great without Kelly.
Merrett I've always rated but didn't have a great JLT.
MCrouch probably the best option, although, I'm not a huge fan of two teammates in the same position.

Merrett is one that shouldnt be discounted because of JLT. He is coming off an interrupted preseason due to an ankle injury so is focusing on getting his fitness back. He scored 70 from 59% game time in JLT2.

He is a fantasy stud that scored 117 in his 3rd & 4th seasons and went 109 last year from round 4. Priced at 101 even if he is underdone he is very under priced.
