Agreed.

Giants fell across the line against Brisbane as well, who we towelled up.

Could be a classic case of overstating their form due to the opponents they’ve played.

I’m confident our boys will get the job done.

GWS are like Stephen Bradbury, shouldn’t have made it through but did. We will give them a touch up they deserve.
What about Collingwood as they fell into the top four and got on the easy side of the draw. Both GWS and Pies are rubbish imo.

I think Collingwood would have been a harder opponent, they have been there before. Bigger crowd exposure, can play the ground well and did beat us twice in the last 2 years at the MCG. Much more comfortable with who we ended up with.

No doubt , but I’m happy the way things have turned out.

I’ve got a tactical move that may free up Dusty and also draw Da boer away from centre bounces allowing Prestia and Cotchin some freedom in the middle, we could start Dusty at half forward or even on the wing.

Is Da boer likely to stay in the middle even if Dusty was on the wing?
Mate Dusty standing in the goal square one out with no-one else within 50 metres is Leon Camerons's worst nightmare. This is the ace in the pack, simple, effective and expected.

As per the previous two finals I'm quite calm heading into this game. Last week proved again that we can adapt and overcome adversity, and I'm of the opinion that the Giants fired their last shot on Saturday.

A really significant trait I’ve noticed this season, particularly in the finals, is the ability of the side to adapt and change tactics and styles to suit their situation, which has been important when they have been challenged at times by the opposition. If plan A isn’t working, go to plan B seamlessly. They don’t panic, they just ‘do’.

Haven't read every page so not sure if it's been posted yet, but did anyone else see the footage of Whitfield at Giants training yesterday? The guy could only slow walk a lap around the ground. Looked sore AF.

My housemate is a Nurse and reckons it would just be irresponsible for any medical person to sign him off to play. It's a very quick turn around, but each persons healing is different.

From what I saw yesterday, it would be a big bloody turn around to go from barely walking a lap, to the crash and bash of a bloody GF. He might take one knock in the first 5 mins and be gone from the game. (Not a bad outcome for us if they do play him!)

If I was GWS I'd definitely be sending De Boer to Prestia, but don't tell them that.

Cotchin more of a grunt player that can impact the game with limited possessions through sheer will, Martin will be sent forward if tagged. Prestia has been the one pulling the strings.
Interesting article on AFL website, Prestia actually improves quite a bit when tagged, bring it on.

Here is the Giants form line since losing to us in Round 17. Make of it what you will.

Rnd 17 - Loss to Richmond by 27 points.
Rnd 18 - Def Pies by 47 points - TICK
Rnd 19 - Def Port by 1 point - Lucky.
Rnd 20 - Def Sydney by 2 points - Lucky
Rnd 21 - Loss to Hawks by 56 - FAIL
Rnd 22 - Loss to Bulldogs by 61 - FAIL
Rnd 23 - Def Suns by 72 - Whatevs
EF - Def a rampaging Bulldogs by 58 points - TICK
SF - Def Brisbane by 3 points - TICK
PF - Def Pies by 4 points - TICK

Their finals form is good, but look at it a little closer. Against Brisbane and the Pies, they basically didn't play a last quarter. (Offensively) It was their very good defence that stood up and held back a tidal wave. Brisbane just bombed it long to GWS advantage, and the Pies probably only needed another minute or so to steal the game.

I'm convinced we wouldn't allow them to give us that opportunity and get away with it. We should be fitter and fresher, and finally don't have a weeks break to kill our momentum. We've been here before, (recently), will enjoy the week, handle the nerves, and get the job done. The players, like many of us, are probably quite calm this week.

The last 6 weeks have given me supreme confidence now in our ability to respond when challenged, so many teams have thrown the kitchen sink at us and failed.

I'm not saying the Giants aren't a bloody good side, you have to be to make the GF, and they deserve respect. However, with it being their maiden GF, everything that comes with that which will take them out of their routine, including bringing in under done players, we have a real opportunity here to bring home cup #12.

I love all the white noise we are putting out right now about who will or won't play on Saturday. The medical update on Broad and Fridge told us nothing, and that's what everyone outside the Club already knew. I'm sure we'll be messing with GWS heads all the way to the first bounce.

Also thinking about the named emergencies, I'm tending to the view that neither KMac nor Ross will play. If Broad passes the concussion tests, he's automatically in. Ross, aka Esky - the mini Fridge, is the closest in build and playing style to Jack G. He would have been a certainty except for the VFL Grand Final when Pickett's best on ground performance completely shook up the mix. Ross has good form from previous AFL performances but Pickett has the runs on the board now. He can also tackle, pin point passes and kick goals. The only negative is whether he can play to the Richmond game patterns and, if he can. I'd have him as Graham's replacement immediately.

Before the GWS v Pies match, I wanted the Pies to win, mainly because I didn't want to see De Boer on the ground. I've now changed my mind and am happy Collingwood is out. The possibility of DeGoey returning, Grundy dominating the bounces plus Moore and Howe negating out two big forwards would have been unsettling. Whatever, I'm looking for a great GF with a Tigers win of between 3 and 7 goals.

Just send kmac to him and give him some of the daisy Thomas treatment
Won't see out the game

Although if I had the choice of who to face in the GF, I would also choose GWS, I think we would be foolish to think we will smash them on Saturday. I expect a close contest for most of the game, expect GWS to go hard early also. Hopefully our form, our brand and our experience prevails late.

Cannot wait to get to the ground Saturday!

I think we will smack them, they have fired their best shot and if not for a pie poster would be looking on from the sidelines.
