Reid and Tippett have given support what so ever

The club makes out that when he plays through injury like it’s a good thing
Reid can't even support his own weight so yep and Tippo was a failure.

The club had to make finals - so they played buddy through injury. Wrong thing to do but it is about $$.

23 bucks for tickets promos are good

Yeah, I like Rose and Bell. Rose is good depth and Bell has enormous upside! This is all my opinion of course.

Keeping Bell .... rings true to me

B: smith Grundy rampe
HB: Lloyd Aliir Mills
C: R.Clarke JPK Heeney
HF:paps Reid ronke
F: Hayward buddy duryea
Foll: Sinclair florent Parker
Int: Jack blakey Jones McViegh

Unlucky to miss: Cunningham,Naismith,Mccartin,Cameron, stoddart, ling. Hard to fit Cunningham in, if Clarke comes in

Cunningham would have to be preferred on the back of last season.

Good delistings. Towers was clearly out of favour, upside with Rose and especially Bell...hopefully they last.

to last Rose would have to change a lot. Great at NEAFL level but hopeless at AFL level. Gets knocked off the ball far too easily.

Bell has the goods, now all he needs to do is stay fit and get some consistency.

It will be good to actually see Ling on the park. Can't wait to take a look at him.

Amartey showed enough to say he has plenty of talent. Can't wait to see him and Bell with good preseasons behind them.

I think they had a rethink around Jordan Foote going to the back pocket when smith got injured and Foote was also injured. Fox went to the back pocket and didn't look out of place. In fact he was a very good match up for the high flying small forwards.

Maibaum, Rose and Marsh are not home free yet. We have not gone to the trade table yet. There still may be more delistings. But for now they are safe.

I don't really think Marsh has progressed far. A bit like Deano but I think they will use him for trade bait.

Vandenberg would be a really good pick up. He's tough, strong and a true inside mid. Clarke is the opposite, very fast and a typical outside mid. Both have tricks. We could swap Newman for clarke, as much as I hate losing Nick it is obvious the club was not going to renew. Vandenberg will probably use up a third round pick.

Are we really interested in Moore? The big money is on him re-signing with Collingwood. We have something going on with a big fish. I wonder if we are bidding for Sheil or someone in that sort of category? I would have thought that sort of player not in our salary cap. but you never know.

From what I've seen of those three, vandenBerg would be the only walk up start I would think.

Duryea will be with Mills and Jones moving to the mids

B: Rampe, Langdon, Smith
HB: Cunningham, Aliir, McVeigh
C: Dawson, Kennedy, Heeney
HF: Florent, Sinclair, Hewett
F: Parker, Franklin, Hayward
FOLL: Naismith, Mills, Clarke
I/C: Jones, Papley, Blakey, Ronke
Emg: Grundy, Newman, Robinson, Marsh

On paper at least I think that is a better side than 2018.

It will also mean an engine room of

Kennedy
Mills
Heeney
Clarke
Parker

which I think is way stronger than what we had in 2018 with just

Kennedy
Parker
Heeney (sometimes)
Hannebery

Just had a quick look at a 22.

FB- Smith. Grundy. Rampe.
HB- Lloyd. Aliir. Heeney.
CE- Jones. Mills. Cunningham.
HF- Blakey. Reid. Hayward.
FF- Papley. Buddy. Parker.
RU- Sinclair. Kennedy. Hewett.

BE- Florent. Ronke. Dawson. McVeigh.

that would be to begin the season.
get Naismith some continuity in the neafl to start.
Dawson would probs be the one to miss for this Ryan Clarke but he should have no guarantees.
I still think we need more class and pace behind the ball.
maybe Florent could really work on that and be comfortable there by finals time.
while I'm keen for Mills and Jones to get into the mids I'd also like to see how they go rotating forward at times.

Thought I'd have a go at a hypothetical best 22 providing all are fit (won't happen) and the only obvious additions are Clarke, Blakey and Langdon.

FB: Smith, Melican, Langdon
HB: Lloyd, Rampe, Aliir
C: Florent, Parker, Jones
R: Naismith, Heeney, Kennedy
HF: Papley, Franklin, Reid
FF: Ronke, Sinclair, Hayward
IC: Hewett, Mills, Cunningham, Dawson

That would mean a midfield consisting of Heeney, Kennedy, Parker, Hewett, Mills and Dawson (all potential or proven stars on the inside), Florent, Jones and Cunningham with the outside class and pace, and Jack, Clarke, Robinson and maybe even Blakey as depth. Naismith coming into the side would give us a better(ish) tap ruck, leaving us with a stay-at-home tall (Sinclair), a roaming tall (Buddy) and an in-between (Reid.)

Ironically enough I couldn't find a spot for Clarke or Blakey yet, probably not a bad thing. Only because we're yet to see how Clarke stacks up against the fellow Swans, while Blakey is an unknown entity at AFL level. What it does do is basically squeeze the three veterans in Grundy, McVeigh and Jack out of the side, and there would be a few on the sidelines with a spot just warming up for them. For example, if Nick Smith went down or dropped off, COR would be the obvious replacement. If Reid got injured (highly likely), McCartin would be ready to go with half a season of senior experience under his belt. We'd have others like Stoddart, Ling, Amartey, Bell along with Blakey who would all be in the NEAFL hopefully banging the door down for spots.

It's not an amazing team nor an amazing list but it's not that bad either. Once again it may be more about how we play, not who we play.

So with the new rule changes in regards to kick ins after a behind who do you all think we should have as our designated kicker?

For me I think it should be Jones, as our kicker needs to be a pretty good kick, but he also needs the ability to take the marker on (who is 10 metres away) both in terms of speed and the ability to break the tackle. I think Jones has both those skills. Another potential option I feel would be Rampe.

Rampe for me

Cunningham, quick and a good kick. He's also small so would rarely be a marking target

FB: Smith - Melican - Rampe
HB: Langdon - Aliir - Lloyd
C: Jones - Kennedy - Heeney
HF: Hayward - Franklin - Reid
FF: Papley - Sinclair - Ronke
Ruck: Naismith - Parker - Hewett
INT: Mills - Florent - Cunningham - Clarke

Depth: Dawson, McVeigh, Jack, Ling, McCartin, Grundy, Blakey, Marsh, Newman, Robinson, Stoddart, Cameron, O'Riordan.

I would like to see Dawson in the team, but sadly I doubt he will be. McVeigh should probably be in there and they'll find space for him, but I couldn't. Some players very unlucky to miss out (Dawson, McVeigh, Blakey), but that's a good thing.

Would like to see Blakey, Ling, McCartin and Stoddart all get a crack. Hopefully there will be a few veterans in the reserves and they learn a lot from them.

Provided we have some luck with injuries (hahaha :(), I see no reason why we can't give top 4 a shake. A lot of doom and gloom on this board, but that's a stronger best 22, stronger depth, and HOPEFULLY we'll have a better game plan than the team this year which was a few minutes away from finishing top four.

Hopefully a fit Reid (again hahaha :() and Naismith (with the added guidance of Cox), along with a deeper engine room, will give us a much stronger forward line and a midfield that can actually win clearances.

Hopefully with another pre-season under their belt, players like Heeney, Hewett, Florent, Hayward, Jones, Mills, Dawson, Aliir, Melican and Ronke all go to another level. Even just a few of them stepping up would be huge.

All in all, I'm slightly more optimistic than I was now that I've actually sat down and looked at our list. I'll remain optimistic even if we don't land Langdon.

Under the new rules having a player like Rohan as man on the mark from kick ins would be awesome.

Agreed. Ronke and Papley should still do well though.

The interesting part will be in defence

Smith at times looked old, ditto Grundy , can they play at near the best/

McVeigh was great but is old so will he maintain?

Rampe I thought started to really struggle as a one on one defender and the umps didn’t help him

In the middle

Kennedy had his worst year- still solid, but he has to defy history and age to lift his form back
Jack had his worst year and was at times not worth a spot, he has to defy history and age too
Parker busted his arse but with those two down he copped the majority of attention
Can Heeney take the next step and become the superstar
Who has the pace and skills in the middle

‘Forward

We have some great smalls, promising tall and Reid but it’s become buddy or bust, if he doesn’t create we don’t score

Ruck

Sinclair great but as some say his hit outs don’t give us much
Naismith off injury and yet to establish himself really,

It could all be that these things work out fine, on paper it’s a promising team
‘But we have some big ifs there

IMO there are a lot of holes and the worst park is if kennedy, Jack , Macca and Grundy plus smith all drop of quick which is likely with there age we are in in shit

Parker is great but is far from a number 1 mid as we seen and melican has never really had to take the big guys by himself and Rampe can no longer do it

Hard times imo
