No big news that as an Essendon fan we are on the lookout for a decent ruckman. Had a bit of a look at some state league guys stats. Has anybody seen much of these guys or have an opinion on them?

Jeremy Goddard - Claremont. 202cm 21 Years old. 2019 season averages =
39.43 hitouts, 9.3 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles.

Scott Jones - Peel Thunder. 205cm 24 Years old. 2019 season averages = 29.17 hitouts, 8.4 disposals, 2.6 marks 2.75 tackles.

Andre Parella - West Adelaide. 204cm 22 Years old. 2019 season averages =
28.06 hitouts, 7.7 disposals, 2.1 marks, 3.2 tackles.
Jones was recently delisted by Freo

Jones has his detractors, but I look on him more favourably than those they retained on Freo's list. Played alright in round 23 as well. Very big lump of a lad and doesn't move quick, but I felt his coordination was on the up and up this year. If he sticks at it, I would not be surprised to see him back in the AFL at a later date and have the tools to do well.

He's one I wouldn't mind signing as a DFA to replace Clarke.

Watched a bit of the WAFL finals and Jeremy Goddard is a big lump of a lad, has some ability as a tap ruck but the overall product is still 12 months away. Often beat up on much smaller guys hence his high hit out numbers.
How was Eastland in it?

Goddard has plenty to work with and could play next year. Ajang Ajang is one id love to throw on the rookie list for a year or 2.

To be honest, he was more impressive than Goddard. Eastland works hard to get his hands on it and links up well. Like his athleticism.
That's why I wanted him in the MSD haha, and at the end of last year.

I like Eastland too, Callum Sinclair probably the best comparison as more a forward who when in the ruck is super handy around the ground (skills very neat) but may struggle in terms of hitouts against the biggest and tallest beasts out there.

What’s the go with Luke Partington? Dominating for Glenelg lately. Anyone know if he’s a chance come draft time.
North are quite interested.

Mitch Hibberd, former North player, is a sneaky chance. Was looked at in the MSD
Playing in his natural position as an inside mid and using his frame and tank to play good vfl footy. His kicking is a little bit better, but still can be average.

Worth a rookie spot at least. Would suit Essendon’s depth quite well as an inside mid.

I asked about Partington on an old west coast thread and there were apparently concerns his disposal wasn't damaging. Any watchers feel that's valid criticism or are they just being a tad salty? Not sure how easy it would be to win a Margarey medal as an elite backwards handballer. Haven't watched him at all.

Eagles fans salty about Partington?

LOL.

Partington's issues were his lack of two way running and defensive efforts. He would regularly burn players in better position to try and impress. He was an accumulator but as mentioned didn't have a huge hurt factor.

The year he was moved on the Eagles won the flag. Not sure why any supporter would be salty about that.

Is he going to stay in Melbourne and play VFL? Has a lot of impressive attributes and definitely had a future at AFL level pre-ban.

Watch Richmond swoop. Ellis replacement and Houli replacement when he retires. Costs them nothing and will play for low $$ IMO. The Richmond "culture" to embrace another footballer with a checkered past. They certainly aren't afraid to do that.

I'll take it that it's valid criticism then
