Disgusting from the club - truly ******* pathetic.
what makes it pathetic is there was no downside to an appeal - none and plenty of precedent to suggest any suspension was unwarranted - very disappointing.

They accepted the ban.

I'm really disappointed in the club.

They probably conceded that in this climate surrounding concussions, there was little chance of getting off of the ban VS the effort to fight it. Plus the media storm that would follow. Best we lay low and chalk this up to being unlucky (what's new for us lol).

+ it's a good opportunity to get his legs back, surely would be feeling the effects of returning to AFL after so long.

Summary: it sucks but don't let it bring ya down mate.

It's about time we stood up for ourselves

I think that they would be worrying more about building Setters fitness with two weeks training.
What they going to do? Its a lose lose for no gain.
If we challenge and fail they go ha ha ha
If we challenge and win they go....dirty scum he should have got four.
Not that it matters what they say but privately the club are wise enough to figure this stuff out.

also probably forces the club to play kennedy.

I personally don't think there's a point in selling something we don't have right now (mongrel).
When we start standing up for ourselves on the field - i.e. grabbing a win, then yeah I'm all for mongrel off the field. But definitely not for doing it off the field. Right now our best bet is to lie low and play it cool.

Like jooce8891 said, good chance for another couple of mids to rotate too.

Disgraceful decision but let's look at the positives. Will had an interrupted preseason off the back of an ACL. He has looked tired the last couple of weeks so Russell can have him raring to go in a few weeks time.

Disappointing, but maybe keeping their powder dry until the next injustice comes along that would hurt us even more. Maybe.

Setters was due for a spell, so maybe that also came into their thinking, but at some stage, we have to stand up to big brother.

Tiggs do it constantly and successfully with Balme on their side, about time we started to as well.

Nup, no benefit in not challenging, this reaks of where the club is at mentally...
Couldn’t agree more, no downside, shows our players, supporters etc that the club will not put up with this shit and sends a message to the mrp that if they make poor decisions we will challenge every time. All accepting the ban does is say do what you like, we’ll cop it. Also can’t believe for a moment he wouldn’t have played for nb or seniors, he has been far from our worst player.

Thought they might try to get it down to one, but taking into account this cause and effect thing, not really surprised. Just wasn’t a good look for the game.

Rules him out of the Rising Star Award too.
As someone noted in an earlier post Simmo broke someone’s jaw and wasn’t even charged and neither he should have been. The Suns player made a choice to hold on to the ball rather than attempt to protect himself, cause should only come into it if the injured party had no realistic opportunity to protect themselves or avoid the injury. Also what amount of injury was caused after he had gotten up then fell over and slammed his head into the ground. I honestly thought there was a reasonable case to get the ban overturned not just reduced to 1 week.

No surprise, reminded of NicNat tackle which he couldn't get off. Oh well won't see him play in Launceston, disappointing.

Maybe umpires should start paying holding the man, when someone holds onto someone 80 metres off the ball.
Looking at the dangerfield incident and I see nothing in it.
