NFL 2019 NFL - Week 8

Jets released LG Kelechi Osemele.
This is going to get ugly. The Jets had the option of placing Osemele on injured reserve after he underwent season-ending surgery, but they've opted to outright release him. Osemele is claiming the Jets' team doctors were steering him in the wrong direction, which has the NFLPA now involved, and the Jets were fighting back with fines. There will be legal ramifications here, so this is far from over. Osemele will be focused on his rehab before entering free agency this offseason.

Adam Gase hasn't spoken to him for around a month now apparently. ****ing weirdo that bloke.

Sometimes it’s easier with less expectations. Only early though, Minshew could be just a fad. Haskins only 22 and in a bad situation with all the crap at the Skins, wouldn’t do his confidence much good. Ridiculous the impatience with rookie QBs these days.

Jay Gruden was right to hide him that's for sure. Shouldn't be taking any in game snaps for the remainder of the year.

Enjoyable informative vid by an ex QB.....

thanks for posting this, ive been meaning all week to get around to finding out what Darnold was really on about, yes he had a shocker but as as usual, its more a media beatup than anything actual substantial.

Surely they could have given him another week or two rest given how well Teddy has played

Seems dumb to rush him back against Arizona. When the have a bye nextweek then Falcons and Bucs for him to get back into it against before Carolina

With the expectations, you have a desperate fan base wanting a saviour, this wait and learn stuff doesn't fire them up.

I agree with the impatience. I'm more than happy for Haskins to sit. The league has been blessed, lately, with rookies starting from day dot and holding their own. But history shows that sitting and waiting is very beneficial.

Exactly. Nfc home seed for playoff race is hot. Best team on the park always.
if he's guaranteed 100% healthy?? Absolutely.

Only missing 5 weeks of what is supposed to be a 6-8wk recovery. I'd question whether it is 100%

The thumb is the most important digit on the throwing hand. Why risk aggravating it against a non-contender with Bridgewater playing well enough to not miss a beat while he's been gone??

I remember Favre breaking his thumb, it affected him the rest of the season. The velocity on his throws were problematic and really affected the offense. Brees' arm strength is nowhere near Favre's.

For the sake of one game, it's a stupid decision.

You can't say it's a stupid decision. They've got highly paid medical staff who've deemed him ready. Think they're in a better place to weight the risk vs reward. Seem to recall them saying it was a 5 week injury when he did it anyway.

Given the current Kelechi Osemele situation with the Jets, the previous medical staff in NO missing Delvin Breux's broken fibula (and accusing him of faking it), and the various problems that have been present in Washington's medical department, I'm not sure we can just blanket assume that the medical staff will always do what is in the best interest of the player over the team (even though they absolutely should be)

also LOL @ using a sports franchise medical staff clearance as a thing to say the player is 100%.

Medical staff work for the team not the players.

And the fact that Brees has been strongly pushing to play. Don’t think it is crazy he is starting but he would be more healthy in 2 weeks.

Big games coming up, I'm sure they want Drew getting some snaps in before facing the likes of the Carolina D, don't blame them either. 😉
They play Atlanta after their bye - he can get plenty of risk free snaps then ;)

A 40 year old smart QB like Brees is not going to know if he’s good to go?

I'd want my 40yo QB rehabbing as long as he needs to be 100%.

I've had a staph infection for a week or so... I can walk without help atm, I could probably go back to work as I can sit there and look pretty. I think I'm good to go. Should I? I guess my workplace isn't as dangerous and violent as his, so chance of re-injury is low...

He doesn't need reps on the practice field, he doesn't need reps in games. The medical/conditioning teams would have him limiting is work in practices to keep him fresh for games. The bulk of his work is done in the film room anyway, snaps on the field count for little for QBs with his experience. And he's got a fluff game against the Falcons before the Panthers anyway...

They said around 5 games originally, how do we know they weren’t being extra cautious last week and gave him an extra weeks rest?
