****ing Washington. Have they ever not been a total basket case?

Festivus victim No5 - All things Washington. If it weren't the capital of America the place wouldn't exist.

Only the NFL team. The rest of their sporting teams are amazing!

Anyone got any thoughts on the Pats season so far?

Obviously tonight was clinical, no arguments there and the Jets haven't been too bad but apart from the Bills they've had a very soft schedule.

In saying that the defence has given up 1 passing TD all season lol.

So where do people sit?

This is all just preseason for the Pats. Their season starts in January.

Good test for Both Carolina and the Niners this week. Carolina is playing lights out on Defense so should hopefully test Jimmy G. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see this one become a Defensive slog fest. If Kyle Allen doesn't turn the ball over I'd give us a fair chance of giving the Niners their first loss of the season.

I picked the Panthers for the win in this one.

Looking forward to the match.

Dwayne Haskins looks terrible, I mean really really terrible. Absolutely lost out there, zero confidence in himself.

What was notable to me was him giving himself the excuse of "I'm only young and I'm learning" in his press conference post match, while that maybe true I hate to hear a QB use it as an out for himself.

Got bust written all over him at this stage. No positives whatsoever. Change my mind.

wouldnt be surprised if the Redskins draft the best available QB (they'll have a top 3 pick) and do to Haskins as the Cards did to Rosen -- given there'll be a new HC next season and he'll want to draft his own one.

having said that, i reckon Haskins is far more talented than Rosen and i don't think you can write him off yet.

It doesn't fill you with confidence going forward, compare that to the swagger of fellow rookie Minshew.

Sometimes it’s easier with less expectations. Only early though, Minshew could be just a fad. Haskins only 22 and in a bad situation with all the crap at the Skins, wouldn’t do his confidence much good. Ridiculous the impatience with rookie QBs these days.

Jets released LG Kelechi Osemele.
This is going to get ugly. The Jets had the option of placing Osemele on injured reserve after he underwent season-ending surgery, but they've opted to outright release him. Osemele is claiming the Jets' team doctors were steering him in the wrong direction, which has the NFLPA now involved, and the Jets were fighting back with fines. There will be legal ramifications here, so this is far from over. Osemele will be focused on his rehab before entering free agency this offseason.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports Josh Gordon (knee, IR) expects to be medically cleared in 1-2 weeks.
The Patriots sent Gordon to IR as a procedural move. His knee injury isn't season ending and he's likely going to be released with a settlement. Gordon is worth stashing for the chance he lands in a starting role with another team. Assuming he gets cleared, that could happen in the next two weeks.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports Antonio Brown is "in a standoff" with the league over his playing status.
Brown said earlier this month he hoped to have his status cleared up "in a few weeks." He's expected to interview with the league at some point, but there hasn't been any movement on that front. Brown could get a second chance when his off-field situation is resolved. The odds remain against him returning this year.

The Miami Herald reports the Lions and Titans have shown interest in trading for Kenyan Drake.
The Dolphins want a fourth-round pick for Drake, but no teams have come close to that. Playing in a contract year and averaging 3.7 YPC, Miami is likely going to have to lower its asking price if they want to move Drake. Drake doesn't look interested in re-signing with the Dolphins after his agent didn't respond to offers last month. He's a prime candidate to be traded ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
