This is the scenario I really wanted to avoid repeating. Like how I tried to upgrade to Grundy could never do it.

Its far easier to do correctional trades for an underperformer than to get that SP who is dominating. Macrae came back from his injury and went back to scoring like a maniac. Libba wont change things for Macrae imo. They want the the ball in his hands. Its likely his average will drop but 120+ is stil very likely for him.
Just waiting for the right time to upgrade and its comes back and bites you

Absolutely valid point and there is the risk that they stay so expensive that they're really hard to bring in, like Grundy in the latter half of last year, and Macrae never really got reasonable price-wise either. Captaincy options also play into it, and he seems a genuine option (like Fyfe, who I'm also not on as of now).
But as an example, if he went out and scored 125 every game rd1-10 with the exception of one 75 between rd 2 and rd 9, he'd drop to a price somewhere between 585 and 615-620-odd k, depending on when. He's also got the rd 12 bye.
Some might say 75 is way too low and won't happen, some will say he'll go 130 and not miss a beat, but I don't think 115-120 average or one lower one is that unrealistic and don't mind taking that chance as it stands. Could be goodnight, Irene if he goes big straight out of the gate, absolutely.

With a quicker game this year, due to the rule changes .....and the 6 x 6 x 6 setups .....I can see this suiting Macrae perfectly !
Yeah, hard ti know the impact of the rule changes in general, just think sides like my Pies and the Dogs have so many vying for midfield time, it's hard to know who will be viable. Macrae will be good, just reckon the chance is decent he sheds some value. Could brain it and punish non-owners, too, but you've got to pick a side and back yourself in.

Agree .....Collingwood, Melbourne, Crows, Geelong, all have deep midfields .....so will be lots of point sharing me thinks

I also agree re the shedding of value with Macrae, Gawn, Grundy, and Lloyd .....but they're keepers, will still score well, and you save a valuable trade

Williams(D4) & Goldstein
v
Roberton(D4) & Grundy

Have Gawn as my other ruck.

Actually i want to change my vote

Don't know why but i have a gut feel williams will be a bust. So 2nd one for me

I am really happy with my side with the following structure:

D: 1/3/4
M: 5/0/6
R: 2/0/1
F: 3/0/5

However I am playing around with a 5 rookie defence to see what I can manage.

What do people think of the following combinations:

Macrae, Lloyd, B.Smith, Roberton - $25k rem.

Vs

Sloane, Laird, Whitfield, Roberton - $3k rem.

Vs

Oliver, Laird, Whitfield, Scrimshaw - $50k rem.

Williams(D4) & Goldstein

2nd option. Goldy is intriguing but don't see him averaging within 10 of Grundy or Gawn so you'll have to upgrade him eventually anyway.
I personally don't see Roberton or Williams being top 10 defenders, but you'll probably be able to make more cash with Roberton at least.

Scrimshaw will likely not play and think Macrae scoring won’t be as good so option 2.
I know different positions but,

Heeney vs Whitfield
Whitfield. Never really been hot on Heeney.
