whitfield + roberton vs Williams + mills

Question for me is whether Williams and Mills are likely to become keepers?? otherwise probably not worth considering bc potentially will need to do 2 upgrades.

Whitfield and Roberton by a country mile.

Dunno about Mills.
Will be watching Mills closely come JLT, if he's predominantly in the middle he's in my side.

Whitfield to be the top defender at the end of the year.
makes this call a very simple one don't it!

So, can we assume that you are one of the "hordes" who take what Ross says as gospel?? ;)
no, the opposite .... i don’t trust the bastard !!

I could think of heaps better options.

Such as?

It appears he's over his injury woes, won the rising star in his first season, right age for a breakout season.

Will he? ....if Mundy plays more midfield this year, as Ross has stated

Think with Ablett playing forward, Esava back .....Danger will play predominantly as a Mid, and that IMO will impact Kelly ...Danger just smothers a lot of his teammates when playing midfield
Looking forward to making him my perma VC.

Ablett goes fwd, Danger to mids should even out as far as Kelly is concerned. Especially as GAJ will now mostly stay fwd, whereas Danger still played big mid minutes last year. I'm hearing Selwood to play half back, should help Kelly if that happens.
As for second year blues, does that usually apply to mature agers?

Didn’t apply to Tom Stewart last year. Had quite a good debut season in 2017, then All Australian defender in 2018.

I like Kelly as a pick, I just already have Danger & Parfitt in my FWD line and don’t want too many players in the same line from the same team.

Just depends ....do you think, after being overlooked in 4 drafts and finally getting his chance last year ....that Kelly will be as hungry this year, particularly on the back of a failed attempt to get home

I expect Kelly to be just like Menegola who had a very similar story into the AFL on a couple of rookie lists before being delisted, smashing it in the WAFL then getting his chance with the Cats, so even going into his second season he would’ve been just as hungry knowing that you never know how long your career could last.

Kelly doesn’t have a problem with Geelong it’s just his wife wanted to go home which is completely fair enough, so I don’t think Kelly would have a problem being motivated to play this season at all, especially after only 1 season in the AFL after taking so long to get into the AFL in the first place.

I still expect him to go back to WA next year but one of those scenarios where the player gives all they can onfield before leaving, with the club he’s leaving still getting something quite good in return because he played so well.
