The mod bashing has got to stop

One more mod bashing post and this thread gets closed permanently.

If you have an issue with a modding decision, where it be here or elsewhere, take it up with that mod or contact site admin.

Mods are unpaid volunteers volunteering their time to keep this place running smoothly. Try to respect that. Yeah, we dont always get things right, but most here are just trying to do whats best for everyone. Its impossible for mods to make everyone happy, and for every decision a mod makes, there is always going to be someone who disagrees.

Mod bashing never solves anything and it is simply disrespectful to those who take the time to volunteer for this place.

Not entirely sure about this but I've always thought that the whole compensation thing was introduced to protect GWS and the Suns from list raids by other clubs when their rediculously over-loaded lists started getting through the system enough to make free agency possible. They were always going to loose top quality players to rival clubs, and those players were always going to command good coin. It makes sense for the AFL to protect their start-ups by ensuring they weren't loosing talent without compensation. So possibly we have the start-up clubs to thank for the current situation.

That being the case, let me propose a toast:

Ladies and Gentlemen: raise your glasses to GWS and the Suns: they gave us Caddy, Prestia, Lynch, Premierships 11 (indirectly) and 12 (directly), and a first round compo pick in exchange for Brandon Ellis.

And you all thought we got the worst part of the compromised drafts! :)

The compo was to stop weak clubs losing all their talent to strong clubs who pick the eyes out of their list

People argue they get a pick, at the end of the draft, but that's harsh compo if you lose a Tom Lynch (for example)

Also remember clubs cannot trade contracted players against their will, so this was the carrot to get clubs to agree to free agency

Collingwood have always been more relevant than Richmond my my lifetime. Sustainable success and support (I hate you Collingwood) over flash on the pan success, bandwagoners and media driven hype any day of the week.

One time I was really struggling to stay away from the nangs so I set out on a drive across the Nullarbor, spur of the moment and quite unlike me. I put my swag in the boot, packed some clothes, food and drink, and off I went, with my dog sitting in the passenger’s seat.

The first day was boring but I felt like I was doing the right thing, giving myself time and space to question why I loved nangs so much. It was the tail end of a drought, so from Melbourne to Bordertown it was just flat, fallow fields stubbled with last seasons pitiful crops.

But once I crossed that SA border, things got a bit... odd. I was tired, I knew that, and I probably should have pulled over but I really wanted to get to Adelaide or at least Murray Bridge before nightfall. But I can’t put it all down to tiredness. I was seeing things that were there, I’m sure of it, but I’m always reluctant to actually admit what I saw.

I saw a crow using a farmer’s erect penis as a kind of horizontal pogo stick. I saw Mark Roscuitto out in a field, on his back but his legs were up over his face and he was fingering his butthole and he was crying. I saw Darren Jarman kneeling over a dead horse that he had torn open, feasting on entrails and viscera. Warren Tredrea was hitchhiking naked by the side of the road every couple of kilometres, laughing and wanking.

Sleep overcame me suddenly and I nearly veered off the road. Looking back I believe there may be a supernatural element to this sudden sleepiness but whatever the cause, I pulled into a dirt side road, drove maybe 20 kilometres north into nothingness and set up camp. I made a little fire, set up my swag and started on a bottle of warm Malibu and lit up a dart. The night settled in ominously, obsidian.

I woke with a start as my dog ran off snarling into the blackness. I ran after him, somewhat bewildered, but my confusion multiplied as I heard whispers fly at my out of the dark. I caught a few words here and there: franking... draw down... clash strip... mortgage...

I could hear my dog but not see him so I just followed his growling, but then there was a sudden change in the sound and tone from my dog. It’s hard to describe but it was almost like the growling turned to a canine purring. I moved forward, and forward, growing more and more fearful... until I stumbled upon a sight I will never forget.

I could just, just make out my dogs eyes reflecting light from the fire behind me. He was still making that soft, throaty sound. Just as I was about to reach out and pay him, a second pair of blinging eyes popped out from behind his a-hole, glinting. It was David Koch. He was muttering something about planning for retirement, but it was clear he was naked, wearing nothing but a butt plug with a tail attached. He had s**t in his teeth because he’d been tonguing my dogs a-hole lovingly and softly. David Kock tried to start delicately rimming my dog’s a-hole again but my presence had awoken some level of awareness in my pet, and he had suddenly become disinterested, even ashamed of what he had been letting Kochie do.

My dog and I sprinted back to the car, leaving the swag where it was, too terrified to do anything but put as much distance between us and Kochie as possible.

As I floored the car, I could see, in the light of the fire, Kochie running on all fours, barking and yelling financial advice at us. We barely made it out of there alive.

Incidentally, just another comment on the amount of money the Suns are paying Brando...

All the noise I've heard is that Brando definitely loves Tigerland, loves the club, and wants to stay.

On top of that, if he does stay then there's a fair chance he might be part of another premiership in the next couple of years.

I don't know if those "intangibles" have been factored in by people whinging about how much the Suns are prepared to pay.

Basically, they have to offer him a premium to move from a club which is giving him everything a player could want -- a good culture, plenty of game time, and on-field success -- to a club where he's not likely to get anything comparable.

So whilst it's probably fair to say that the Suns are paying overs for Brando that's ignoring what things look like from his perspective. Sure, I get that he wants to set himself up for after footy and all that (and good luck to him), but even putting that aside, who in their right mind would move from Richmond to the Suns if there wasn't some significant financial compensation for doing so? If I was in his shoes there's no way I'd be giving up my spot on the Richmond list to move to the Suns without some serious financial persuasion.

Reading through threads is exhausting when that guy's involved. He's got some internal s**t he needs to sort out for sure...

The Pies' board is weirdly relaxed about the whole situation. They're "proud" that they prevented us from getting the three-peat 😂
It’s funny how they celebrate that game as if they actually won the premiership. Never seen another club celebrate a Preliminaryship as much as them.

Maybe we as a club can do Collingwood a solid and send Treloar a Preliminaryship medal.

USA-USA-USA

Pies fans are nufties.

There's a flog on the scats board bragging about being upstairs on Swan St and spraying water over the supporters celebrating.

We're going to start throwing stuff on them soon.

Thinking water bombs first then stickier stuff.
Water worked nicely.

Felt quite therapeutic too. I implore you all to try it next time you have a suitable height from which to throw water on feral Richmond fans and they can do nothing about it.
When asked what reaction he got
A bit of yelling and looking around before scuttling off somewhere. :D

Why posters spend so much time dick measuring on the MB astounds me, Tigers included, I love the Tigers... loved them in 1990 when we almost gone and love them now when we're Kings of the AFL Jungle!

Yeah, the dick measuring can be tiresome, and ultimately pointless. But those threads are great for a dose of salt, as are all these days. I work night shift and have spent my breaks this week reading the g/final game day threads on the various boards to get an idea of the subtle differences between fan groups. You notice immediately that some are worse than others. Some fan groups, like the Bulldogs, Hawthorn and (this was a surprise) Essendon seem to have a few posters who admire Richmond. But the teams we've shafted in the finals are almost purely whinging about the umpires, accusing our players of diving etc. But my favourite was a post on the Carlton board early in the game that observed that Rioli was "missing the support of Butler". Initially I thought WTF?! Then I remembered that Butler is supposed to be Carlton-bound. So this nuffty was so invested in the hope that Butler will return to his 2017 form at the Blues and be their next Betts that he was capable of 1: imagining that Rioli ever relied on Butler's "aid"; thinking that Butler in 2019 might have been capable of providing it; and not noticing that Rioli was actually, like, kicking goals in a GF and stuff.

Perked me up no end.
