How gettable is Laird?

I think we're a better chance with Papley. Personally I'd prefer both but I haven't been paying much attention in this thread, its like a passing train, its all a blur of getting caught in the idea of players without thinking how we even faciltate it, let alone be passed up for another club as usual.

This will be a quite yr trade wise, we might pick a few no name type player cheaply as our no.1 priorities ty is to get the heads of the department a well functional system in place where we can produce quality talent at a high level of confidence. The players we need are already at our club we don’t need to reach out Tovar’s get more. It’s just that the players who need may not yet appear to perform in the way we want them to or that they have not being challenged enough or have their role explained more clearly enough.

With respect, none of those are “big dogs”. Higgins can’t even attract a solid long term offer.

Brown almost won the coleman the last couple of years. Tarrant is one of the two or three best full backs in the comp. Higgins was all australian. Goldy still in the top 5 ruckmen. Cunners is one of the best extractors going around... strange comments. Higgins is 30 now so he isn't going to attract a 7 year deal, nobody has been chasing our few stars because we tend to re-sign them pretty quickly and we have a truck load of spare cash we could easily match rival offers.

Mate I love your passion and good on ya, but it just isn’t shared by other clubs. What you’re absolutely right about is our best are getting old and “used to be” or are “almost” elite players.
We have a truck load of spare cash or rather salary cap provisions because we don’t have to pay big dog money. Our highest paid player is on $700k and there’s not many around that. Don’t get me wrong, that’s good, but there’s a reason for that.

He would be a very handy pick up
He’s been A grade for some time

Come the **** on. Are you seriously saying that over the last few years (and this one) that if we put those 5 guys up for trade, or they were free agents and wanted out, that they wouldn't have suitors out the proverbial offering massive deals?

You're speaking some utter bollocks, unless you consider there to be only a half dozen 'big dogs' in the entire league in which case you're speaking a slightly different flavour of utter bollocks.

No, I never said that other Clubs wouldn’t pick them up on the trade table, they just won’t attract huge returns or huge numbers.
Higgins hasn’t attracted a “huge offer” or a long term deal even when trying.
Goldy got offered 3 years on an extra 50k a year, not huge $.
Tarrant already on $700 and wouldn’t command any more, same goes for Brown.
Cunnington is an unknown.
The kids are yet to attract big $ but will all look to opportunities on the new EBA trigger.
So...yeah I guess I’m saying that no Club is offering massive deals for our players. We just don’t have a premiership team...but geez I would love to be proven wrong.

Who ever told you that is full of s**t.
Goldy was offered 3 years on an extra $50k per year.
We offered 1+1 with triggers.
We have now matched it and moved the trigger to 2021

Not sure why this is even a conversation, you seem to want to make a strange point that our club has crap players and no one would want them.

To be honest I could give a flying fat arse what other clubs think of our players young or older.

But I can tell you if Cunnington said he wanted to go to any other club that club would fall over themselves to get him, so please back off your bulls*** on
Cunnington.

Can we go back to rumours without foundations

We have ourselves an old fashioned Source Off!
Was it 3 years at an extra 50k?
4 years on good coin?

Are there any more challengers?!

You bet.....

Ziebell's role can look no further than mitch hann. He is someone u want one out in the goal square against a small defender or on the lead against a taller defender. Also ziebell is devastating around 50 arc. Larked is our key position power forward once he grows more physically. Brown is the mobile running big forward as u want him to run and jump in that order.

Cannington has more midfield use but only during general play. He us still a monster when there is a congestion but not at center bounce. Our center bounce 3 should be Anderson, Simpkin, ldu, thomas from 2020 onwards as we need to dutch Higgins to accelerate the evolution of the team.

Ah yes the champion Mitch Hahn that we want our captain to aspire to be like.

Now now Mrs Cunnington relax, I didn’t say our players were crap. There’s a big gap between big dogs and crap.
I’m surprised how many punters get bent out of shape because they can’t read.
Cunnington wasn’t even commented on, so take a chill pill. Would he get taken, s**t yeah. Would he command $900k, not even close.
There’s no strange point to be made here, just an opinion. I wouldn’t trade any of these guys, but I’m also not delusional that they are elite.

Thank you honey, I am relaxed.

I just what to move to reading something what can’t be proven but everyone seems sure is happening

Brad Hill likes this.

And my opinion is that quite a few posters are getting unnecessarily upset about 'less than flattering' opinions about our list at the moment. Which is odd, given we're in a bit of an uncertain period as a club.

The general antagonism towards Quintero, a case in point. Disagree? Fine, but no need to play the man. BF does tend to have a pack mentality at times which, ironically, also involves sinking the collective boot into certain players.

The media doesn’t rate our players because the club isn’t ‘sexy’. Pendlebury was always pretty quiet early on like Cunners but has always been rated a star.

The greatest example was when Wells went to Collingwood and in the few games he played they claimed it was the best he had ever played and was a superstar when he had been doing better with us for ten years.

We have finished 15th, 9th and 12th over the past 3 years while playing an older 22 most weeks than our opponents.

If the best we can talk about is Cunners then no wonder the media and football community don't rate us.

Some of our younger guys look good but all clubs toward the bottom of the ladder have potentially good young players coming through - that's the nature of the draft.

So...why isn’t our club “sexy”?
Lack of performance for 10 years?
Coach?
CEO ?
Could be any of these, but I don’t see any reason why current band of media spuds would be anti NM and pin it on our players.
We must be doing something wrong.
If we take the f**k them attitude we don’t care, which is often voiced, then let’s not bitch about it.

R U Tripping?

The most consistent forward in the comp over the last 3 years, one of the top 3 backs, top 3 contested ball winners and probably top 3 ruckmen would all walk into any side in this finals series. Higgo probably would too.
