IMO we won't seriously contend until we develop a much stronger base of elite young players. That's where the improvement comes from. Richmond and Brisbane are perfect examples. We can go on forever drooling over other clubs B and C grade players but without that base we'll just hover around 6th and 12th. We need to hit this draft - real hard. There's no quick fixes.

So is Cunnington's kicking good, bad or average or are you just making this s**t up as you go along?

Reading skill ain’t your thing is it, his kicking is average at best going along with your line of thinking as u stated he has improved. Am curious to how u r making these up. U been to any games? Have u kinda noticed that we r the worst team at center clearance?.

That started with the overhaul of the department heads. If we ain’t got the right managers, we not going to get the right players.

On to my next pet topic - Ben Cunnington. We should be wrapped we have this bloke. Unlike most, he is elite. He's easily an above average kick. I don't get the negative waves around him. I go back a little bit and he's the best pure inside midfielder I've seen at this club and the best that's going around in the comp. If he had wheels, Dustin Martin pfft.

So whats wrong with our center clearance? Too slow/less responsive with both Ziebell and Cunnington in there?

Unfair, very rarely gets beat in one on one contests.
Yeah, agreed.

Sorry, JLC, but that's ridiculous. He racks up the pill and has excellent skills, but he's actually a very good defender too who's capable of playing a bit taller if he needs to.

As I said, very good small defender, but also 353 meters gained a match this season, which is actually his lowest in three years. In the two years previous to this one he averaged 421 and 417 meters gained respectively, and that's at a disposal efficiency of 82%, 78%, and 81% for each of those years.

2019 was his 'worst' year of the last three, but league-wide he was still ranked 10th for total rebound 50s, 5th in total effective disposals, and 8th in total intercepts. He's ranked even higher than those in the two years before this one.

Laird is a classic Dream Team player.

Really? In what way?

The fact that he gets to contests, wins plenty of 1 on 1s, is strong over the ball and an elite decision-maker? Probably gets him lots of points, but that's because what he does is quality, so the points counting is essentially irrelevant.

Please tell us you're not going to follow that well worn path of applying the label "Dreamteam / Supercoach mentality" as a means of dismissing others' views.

One thing we got terribly wrong this year was 666. There's definitely no room for both of them at centre bounces but Cunners still did his bit though. Cunners real strength is at stoppages. There's more stoppages than centre bounces. Centre clearances are suited to burst players with high twitch muscles. That's why Jy jumped out of the ground, Geelong played Selwood on a wing and blokes like me remain dumbfounded why Atley doesn't start in the middle.

See this makes sense.
I saw a few games where TT was able to extract the ball too easily as, Jy. So I guess where do we keep Cunnington/Ziebell - both in the forward line? Totally agree with you, I'm just lost on where they can likely be moved to. I feel like it's a bit of surplus with the two running around - while Cunnington is definitely the lock in.

Ummm, we had four Rising Star noms last year, and have blokes like LDU and Walker who have elite traits at senior level.

Tom Browne reported that Melbourne and St.Kilda are interested in Cody Weightman with their 1st pick.

That's a bit of a bolter. If that's the case, what does that mean for our 1st pick?

Maybe not much if St Kilda have to give up their current first pick for Hill. Melbourne have also been talked about as wanting to trade their first.

So are we relying on our list manager that we are sacking to convince players to come to us?

What motivation does he have now that he is going
It’s interesting, I suspect Cam might find it hard to get another gig that’s similar. I get the feeling he might be a dude that loves the game and the club and will do his best to retain a link.

I think if he were more mercenary he would have walked on hearing the news that he was gone.

More referring to Michael McMahon but yes cam also
Both guys won’t be here next year but are in positions we need to talk and identify targets
