Am I not entitled to my opinion am I? There are plenty that would agree with what I say . And if you read my post I said I hope I’m proven wrong , talk about taking the moral high ground haha
Of course you are. It was the tone of your post and then the attempt to dress it up as fact. He is going to be a Lion for some years to come and has lots of good attributes. Let's focus on them and not his perceived weaknesses.

Hello couple of players I'd like my club to look at due to lacking midfield grunt and outside pace are Mathieson and Taylor who both seemed to be just on the fringe playing a fair bit of NEAFL. Have they re-signed ? Do you think they are good depth or still a shot to become regular 22 at the Lions. I'd take either at the Swans if they were moving on but perhaps they are already in other plans.

If you're looking for a gun midfielder, Bastinac is your man.

We'd like to keep them both, but can probably do something for pick 5.

Pick 16, Taylor, Matho, Cutler and Bastinac for Pick 5 and 8 (From Papley Trade)

Think we're paying a bit overs as Cutler is worth two firsts on his own but we probably have to pay a premium to rehome Basti unfortunately.

True he was very good in the last Lions v Swans NEAFL game but our free kick count is the worst in the league so wouldn't mind Mathieson as he draws a free kick (Tongue in cheek). That isn't a troll comment as we have Hewett as an arm lifter (has relaxed that a bit). It's more that he goes in and under and gets the pill. Of course the whole beast mode is entertaining too.

Should look at Keays to replace Papley.

You don't have to justify yourself here mate it's not the North Board. We know Matho is partial to a dive or two.

Speaking of which, how much for Buddy?

Bizarro World where the Lions can now bash the bottom rungs of the ladder Swans and laugh at the talent walking out. Just shows how quick things can turn around with astute trading.

You can pick my tone from words haha
Yes, pretty easy to pick when you don't attempt to disguise your hatred.

You could have said you hope Witherden focuses on his weaknesses during the offseason by working with a sprint coach but instead you went full douche.

I always thought Taylor would thrive in a good team; a real "icing on the cake" type player who can make things happen after the ball has been won for him. He's probably unlucky that McCluggage and Robinson turned into one of the best wing pairings in the comp otherwise he could've played more and did well when called upon (thinking of his game against the Hawks).

Mathieson was highly regarded coming out of the preseason, and played his best game in round 1. I don't remember too much from his season but I seem to recall him getting injured at a really unfortunate time? With him it has always been about improving his endurance and perhaps being more flexible around the ground. Personally I don't think he's too far away from "clicking" but the acquisition of CEY is probably bad news for his chances of regular senior footy next year.

Hopefully we don't "bash" anyone too hard (lots of tongue in cheek/deadly serious posts in here ;))- 1 season does not make a great team and we've got years of garbage to make up for - but you're right I think we've got the makings of a good one now and astute trading was pivotal. We've envied teams like the Swans for a decade or more.

Which will make parting with players like Lewy or Matho or Cutler or Robbo or Basti really bloody hard for most of us - they stuck it out and gave us everything at a time when rewards were few and far between.

I have no idea who will go or to where - but theres some good ones on our list who probably just won't fit anymore. Astute trading just might land you one and, if you do happen to get one of the boys, look after them for us.

Whatever we do around trade period this year I would be making sure we have salary cap space to offer Grundy a 7 year deal at around $1.2m pa in next years trade period. He will be a free agent. I think Collingwood are snookered on cap space.
Grundy as our ruckman would make us a genuine contender.

Personally I'd keep Taylor and Cutler if at all possible because they can both actually play good footy . Robbo seems like a great bloke and he gave it 120% but it was close your eyes stuff for me watching him . I hope he has success at Freo. Basti likewise wherever he turns up.

We gave Matho and Archie another 2 years so I suppose they're staying.

This point has been gone over a few times and someone jumps down your throat when you bring it up but I think we get done for leg speed on occasions especially out of defence where a bit more decisive action could create chaos the way the Tigers do. I don't see anyone on our list to improve that bar Tommy Berry , still a year or two away , maybe Starc and Bailey if they improve over the pre season , but I'd just love to get a running defender on a our list . Don't grow on trees I know. I think Witho is fairly slow for his size but he's had a fair bit of experience now and needs to work on his pace over the summer.

The other obvious is a big leading forward.

Like gold I know . Later in the season it showed up that we didn't have a bigger guy that two of their defenders had to worry about. I don't see anyone on the horizon. Nor is there maybe anyone currently available . McStay cops a lot of flak for just being not as good as people want him to be . I think he goes as well as he can with the gifts he's got , but one of them isn't kicking 3 or 4 in a game. I've got hope in Wooler and maybe Fullarton , but it's only a hope .

Just having a big guy who presents down there gives the team something to focus on and be more direct when they're not going so hot and it's no mystery that the Tigers really came good once Lynch came good and kept presenting.

Can’t run out of sight on a dark night witherdon . Huge ego from what I have seen and regularly gives his team mates sprays when he doesn’t live up to the same standards . Hope I’m wrong but I genuinely think he reads his own press too much and it’s no surprise that him and his mate Rayner aren’t the fittest blokes rolling around and they live together standards not exactly being set.
SERIOUSLY !!??:eek:o_O:rolleyes:
