Those ESPN articles are always harsh on us. Fox Sports had a better outlook.

GOLD COAST SUNS

Who left:
Peter Wright (Essendon, trade)

Who arrived: Rory Atkins (Adelaide Crows, free agent), Oleg Markov (Richmond, trade)

Draft picks owned: 5, 27, 37, 76, 84

Leigh Montagna says: I think they’re tracking nicely. I like Markov as a player, he was stiff not to play more footy at Richmond. They’re just getting the peripheries. They’ve got lots of young talent and hopefully they’ll keep tracking in the right direction.

Grade: B

I don't reckon we'll be able to trade up the order. We'll end up trading 27 and 37 for some future picks imo.

We can do anything we like.
Just means paying up more price.

still torn on making a play for pick 2 or not.
though King does need a proper partner in crime down there.

need to stop getting in top 10 picks.
need to re-sign them for overs when they not actually worth the price. And end up like Wright and Brodie etc.

I tend to agree on both counts, unfortunately clubs will know we aren’t going to use 27 and 37 so we can expect poor offers. Hopefully we can equalise the points with very late picks

Who left: Peter Wright

Who arrived: Rory Atkins, Oleg Markov

2020 NAB AFL Draft picks: 5, 27, 37, 76, 84

Future picks: Not a lot of draft movement for the Suns, just giving up a future third-round selection to Richmond and receiving a future fourth for Wright. They will pre-select Academy products Alex Davies and Joel Jeffrey this year and still have flexibility with a number of selections.

We say: Always likely to be a quiet period as the Suns invest in their top-end draft talent from the past four years. Some early flirting with Adam Treloar did not materialise, and the addition of Atkins and Markov to add speed came at little cost. Waving Wright goodbye for next to nothing thins out a tall forward stable that was already light-on for bodies. - Michael Whiting

Grade: 6/10 (ranked 11th)

LIKES:

Recruiting players who are first 22, or good enough to push first 22 to higher levels to keep their spots

Recruiting players who want to be at the club for the club culture and determined to achieve future success

Team is immediately better / has more quality depth

Maintaining draft position (this and next year)

Not chasing big fish players who are looking to fund their retirement plan

DISLIKES:
Still paying some of 2MP’s wage considering the draft pick returned .... that said * are only getting what they’re paying for

SUMMARY:
Identified targets that fit the game style, positions in need of improvement and club vision.
Executed plan with no fuss.
Excited to see 3 new recruits come round 1 .... Atkins, Markov and some young fella named Rowell who might just go okay.

It has been rumoured he wasn’t keen to join us, anyone know why?

Bailey Scott's ambition of midfield minutes is up in flames now at the Dogs. So much competition for spots.

Don't think he would even be best 22 now. Although, to be fair probably not for us either I guess?

Think you mean Bailey Smith....

Him too. Dogs could face some poaching issues next year I think. Bont a RFA as well.

Bailey Scott is in North melbourne.
Bailey Smith , don't want to go interstate in his draft year , got doc certificate.

Call me an idiot but I wasn't impressed with those highlights. Ive watched 1 whole game of his and I'm not worried about his silky skills, I'm worried that he is bad in a contest, be it in the air and on the ground.

This highlights package isn't a patch on McKenzie Willis's
