the senior/rookie list is full you can have a max of 42
we can add a cat B rookie if one drops out of the sky - would have to be someone who has not played AFL for 3 years like a basketballer or Irishman
Are you taking into account Sicily being placed on the LTI?

The top six for me have always been hard to split and you could make a case for all of them been better than other.

Gold Coast must of been sitting their laughing knowing they were going to just sit and wait to whatever fell in their lap.
Yep.

A big part of me wanted Phillips or Holland’s but I guess we will target a gun mid in next years draft which by all accounts is stacked with them.

So I have no probs with DGB given he was highly rated and the kid seems level headed and determined to get the best out of himself and you can’t ask more than that, like you said.

Perhaps it made minimal difference at to who we selected, or at least to the overall quality of the player we landed. Can’t complain about DGB, seems like a rock solid selection. I’m glad we try to win and send off the champs and skipper in the right way.

Doubtless we did the right thing by winning but to suggest it had a "minimal difference" seems a stretch. If we had the choice between McDonald, Campbell and DGB (Sydney may have still matched Campbell), not so sure we end up with DGB.

As with all drafts, the proof will be in the pudding a few years down the track and at this stage its all speculation. DGB looks like a McGovern/Lever type - great, but doesn't get me excited like our highest pick in an enternity should.

An ITK has suggested with had DGB as 3 after JUH and Campbell. So of course we would have chosen Campbell first as we tried that but it sounds like we would have taken DGB ahead of McDonald too. So likely it made no difference to who we landed assuming we still bid on Campbell and the swans matched. Probably would have just gotten Essendon a better player, which we can all agree, is a bad thing.

Ease up I don’t even kiss the missus, unless it’s a special occasion.
So only the three kisses since the 2013 season?
Don’t be silly.

If I kissed her every time we have won a Premiership since I have been a member, my lips would be worn down to the gums.

Interesting how little kudos goes to Mark McKenzie for our drafting amongst fans, and how much credit Wright gets.

Just an observation.

This is so true. I usually say Wrighty + Co and with that meaning McKenzie and all our recruiting staff. They are all part of a well oiled machine.

McKenzie is so good at playing straight bat as well, probably even more so than Wright. "We just go off our talent order, and go from there", is his version of p the 'best available' playing dumb. We obviously totally go for a mix of talent, character, and NEEDS, and here it was clearly about X-Factor and pace this year after our initial pick, but in the lead up didn't give up a thing. Plays the game just as well as Wright.

Is the 2021 draft pool likely to be dominated by midfielders?

It's early days but yes the draft is meant to be filled with midfielders & smaller players with only a few key position players available. It should be noted that most clubs consider this draft very strong. I'm all in on the Josh Sinn train. Here's an early form guide (credit to eDPS):

Isn't Sonsie part of our academy?

We can't bid if he's top 20 anyway

no he's not, usually good players from regions play with NGA's but are not in NGA's if you know what i mean? he is not a part of our NGA, but he has played with our NGA as he was a talent from the Eastern Ranges.

To those who disagreed with this post,

I just said "IF" judd2sewell was implying Brockman could end up in jail within a year because he is an Aboriginal footballer from WA, then shame on him.

He said that wasn't his intention, it was more a comment on his "fashion sense" or lack thereof.

If you think that sort of comment, with the racial intention behind it, would be ok, then what do you think Cyril, Shauny, Chad, Changa or any other Indigenous Hawthorn champion would think of it?

If you still think its ok, then I have another team for you to support.... you will fit right in

take this nonsense to twitter.

Why would either Mitchell or O’Meara leave at the end of next year?
Just my own two cents personally. But our mid was very very poor last year. And yes while it may be coaching, my understanding is that Burns coached the group in 20 and Mitchell in 19, now not 100% sure who our new mid coach is but he is new. So if we have another poor year I think questions need to be asked if the trio of Tom, JOM and Worpel can play together while offering no positional versatility.

Simply put Worps played great with JOM as #2, and same with Titch is 2018. I think a more explosive mid compliments two perfectly like Wingard but then where do place the third. If there’s another poor year I 100% would look at trading JOM for a late 1st in 21 like Brad Crouch and develop the combo of TOM and Worps while rotating the third with a number of players like Wingard, Breust, Cousins, Phillips, Finn and future youngsters.

Burns to say as I love JOM but you gotta build a team who compliments each player.

Haha he has definitely learnt well from Wrighty how to say a lot without saying anything at all.

True, have added Howe, Hartley and the rucks to the list. IMO we should have traded Shiels out this year.

When you look at all the outgoings we need, it just reconfirms we are another 3 years away from potentially having a pretty good list if we draft and trade well.
