Im really torn on this.

Tilthorpe has some great qualities. He just doesn't scream number 1.

McDonald is a better KPF choice. The pressure that will come on both club and player will be immense once JUH and McDonald start to kill it. And if we don't bid on JUH because of a deal with the WBD, the media will undoubtedly ignore the context of the deal and still give it to us.

'ADL didn't even bid on him'.

I can hear it now, and I hate the idea of it (for both player and club).

I'm emotionally invested in Hollands. I've been on the bandwagon for a while now and I really hope we take him. You said it yourself, if it wasn't for the knee, he would be the easy #1 choice.
Ideally we bid on JUH at 1 and then take Hollands. If Tilthorpe is still available at 5 or 6, we should have enough currency to live trade up the order.

Looking at our draft picks left after swapping to futures with Melbourne and looking beyond the the 4 picks inside 30 there does not seem a lot left ,especially if give up pick 40 for Hately as dont think we would trade for future picks and use them this year for trades unless that what GWS were pushing.
Cant see where have anyone else to trade out ,although nice but unlikely to get a trade for Kelly or Seedsman . So not much left in my view for NGA and FS or a low pick KPP or ruck project type player if wanted.
On surface looks like Edwards not in FS thinking and maybe looking at Newchurch as a rookie only.
Assume I am not getting full picture in what can be done.

I think Hately for the future 2nd round from Melbourne is far too much.
I do as well, but how do we get Hately and the WB pick 14? If we give up pick 40 for Hately, what do we have left for pick 14? Surely we aren't stupid enough to give up 22 & 23? WB need points in this years draft.

Essendon get Dunkley, Caldwell & 44 for 7, 8 & Fantasia
GWS get 8, 13 & 14 for Cameron, Caldwell & 44
Bulldogs get 20, 22, 23, 29 & 40 for Dunkley & 14
Geelong get Cameron for 13 & 15
Adelaide get Hately & 7 for 22, 23 & 40
Port get Fantasia for 29

22 and future 2nd for 14 from WB?
9 and 14 to Ess for 6.
40 for Hately.

1, 6 and 23 to use in this draft.

Bid on Campbell at 1 and we’re guaranteed at least 2 of the super 6. The risk being it could be two mids in Campbell and Phillips we get - but that wouldn’t be so bad?
how does the dogs dropping from 14 to 22 help them with points for a JUH bid?

Who does scream number 1 outside of Hollands?

I actually joked with a mate this morning that only the Crows could turn B Crouch in to two picks in the 30's...
if it helped get pick 14 and then gave us extra points to match bids after pick 40 goes for Hately, then I would be ok with that as a draft hand of 1, 9 & 14 should get 3 great kids in to go with Hately, Borlace, Newchurch and maybe Edwards

after being rookie listed. played more before that

Would there by any other FAs who have played fewer games?

Who does scream number 1 outside of Hollands?

Probably McDonald, but even he has come from a long way back based on pre-season projections.
Hollands has #1 pick qualities and would be a no brainer if not for the knee. I just don't have trust our recruiting team to make the call. I hope they prove me wrong.

I think I said it in an earlier but out of Tilthorpe or Hollands, Tilthorpe might slide, Hollands won't. Take Hollands at 1, and trade up on the draft night if Tilthorpe is still there at 5-6. Otherwise, I'm more than happy with Perkins and whoever else we take with our current hand

List sizes are in. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl...s-as-end-of-trades-looms-20201112-p56dw9.html

Overall still seems unclear, but it will be total list size of 44 including category B rookies, with a minimum of 36 and maximum of 38 senior listed players

It sounds like rookies will be capped to 4, plus 2 category B rookies

Minimum list size will be 37 players (36 senior + 1 rookie)

For us, we currently have 38 senior + 6 rookies. This means our list will either be reduced by 2 (38 + 4 rookies) or 4 (36 + 4 rookies), depending on how we configure it.

Dawson Simpson - 28
I was thinking Jono Giles but he almost managed 50+ games before he would have been eligibly (though was under contract at that point)

Pretty much as expected...

We had 38 on the senior list. We've lost Brouch, Atkins, Hartigan, Gibbs & Knight, so effectively we now have 3-5 senior list vacancies depending on how many players the club wants on the senior list.

I guess we'll know more about the list mathematics this afternoon, when we know whether or not we've landed Hately, and what our draft picks look like after trading has concluded (yes, I know picks can continue to be traded).

Gooch, Dots, Mackay and Crocker should all be feeling nervous about now. Their playing futures will be decided in the next few hours.

Based on what I've read so far, valid list combinations next year will be...

Primary/Rookie
36/1
36/2
36/3
36/4
36/5
36/6
36/7
36/8
37/1
37/2
37/3
37/4
37/5
37/6
37/7
38/1
38/2
38/3
38/4
38/5
38/6

Squads can vary from 37 players (36/1) to 44 players (36/8, 37/7, or 38/6).

All Cat B rookies now included in the above rookie numbers.

We went with 38/6 this year. Very likely we go with this again in 2021.

Apologies, if I'm off the mark!

CONSOLIDATED LIST

Players taken by the Adelaide Crows with a top 10 pick:

7 2000 Laurence Angwin
8 2004 John Meesen
10 2007 Patrick Dangerfield
10 2008 Phil Davis
9 2018 Chayce Jones
6 2019 Fischer McAsey

and that's why we're mid table champs

Reckon Bulldogs 14 goes to Collingwood for Treloar and some late picks (JUH points).

Collingwood will then try and push 14 and 16 ahead of any McInnes pick.

Dunkley stays at Dogs.
WB have (besides 14) picks 41(412) 54(220) and they would need to match 2400 points if we bid on JUH at 1 and by the draft rules, they can carry over about 1700 points (sum points of all draft picks of the premier club) as a deficit on next year's draft so your scenario would pretty much wipe out their 2021 picks.

Couldn't happen to a nicer team ... well, maybe a few others come to mind.
