Thilthorpe is not a number 1 pick. We could likely get him at pick 6. If we are going Thilthorpe we should do a trade with Essendon for their pick 6 and 7 plus their future 2nd for pick 1. They want McDonald. Would give us 6,7, 9. I think we are idiots not taking McDonald and will regret it if we don't take him.
theres no way he makes it to 6...

north, hawks and the swans will jump on mcdonald/tilly if they are available at their picks.. he will be top 5.

i dont rate Himmelberg...

sure he had a few great games at the end of this year but his kicking for goal is ******* disgusting.. it could never be relied upon in the big games. just my opinion of course and a fair few here will disagree in sure..

think Tilly would force himm out of the side pretty rapidly..

but then again.. we do play tex, fog and himm together now as our talls.. whats to stop it being tilly, himm and fog??.. especially given tilly is meant to be very mobile and good below the knees for a 200cm lad..

i just reacon Thilthorpe is who they’ll grab...
Fair enough. Personally I'm a Berg believer (and that's coming from someone who wanted him delisted earlier in the year lol), so I'm assuming he's in our future forward setup. I just like the idea of McDonald/EH/Fog better than Thilthorpe/EH/Fog, even taking into account Thil's athleticism for his size (which is elite). McDonald's KPF package I feel is more well rounded, and brings more to the table for us as we stand

Fair enough if you think they go for Riley though, I wouldn't be surprised either. I just like Logan more

I like Ford too, but his tank needs some work. I’m more confident in Poulter and Cook’s ability to eventually play in the middle of the ground if need, Poulter as an in/out mid and Cook as a wingman

I do understand that Cook’s very light as it stands. Usually I don’t like guys that average low clearance and tackle numbers, but Cook I think has enough upside in other parts of his game for me to want to take him. That said, I’d be happy if we grabbed Ford, he’s inside my top 25 as it stands
I think a lot of our picks that follow our 1st will hinge on whether we take one of McDonald/Thilthorpe or Hollands with our first...I'm firming on taking Hollands as the best player available to us in this draft ACL and all.

Nah, pick 3 maybe. If we did get the Bumbs' 6 & 7, Tilly, McDonald & Hollands could well be gone by then.

IMO, from reading the tea leaves, us and North will jump on McDonald/Thilthorpe with the first two live picks. We're known to want a top tier tall, and North needs a Ben Brown replacement lol

It sounds like Hollands will slide, unfortunately. Hopefully he wants to come play for his childhood team in a couple of years haha

Correct, I will disagree with you.

Has an average accuracy for goal (all shots) of 46% which isn't too far from the mean, if not dead on average for an AFL footballer, and will likely improve as he settles to the level. After all, some of them just looked like inexperience/rushing. (Source: https://www.statsinsider.com.au/afl/shot-charting, though you'll have to select Himmelberg from the drop-down menu).

I'd take Hollands with pick 1, too. He's the best non-academy talent in the draft without doubt, for me. It doesn't sound like we'll lean that way though, from what I can tell we want one elite tall (and that tall isn't going to be Cox or Reid), with the rest of our picks being mids

Where's this coming from .....all I'm hearing is the media hype, and we know they have no idea about the Crows thinking

IIRC Kelly said something along those lines in an interview? Mids + one good tall

Then again that could just be stirring the pot
I think that's pretty accurate TBH ......it's just in which order you take them

Baldwin is the interesting Scenario ......I like how he plays, aggressively

So all those hopes and dreams of pick 2 for Crouch and trading up for bulldogs pick 14 end up in just pick 23 (probably late 20s when all is said and done).

Guaranteed we take McDonald and O'Driscoll with 1 and 9. McDonald to be an eagle in 2 years with pick 12 coming back.

Jesus Christ mate, go find another hobby. This club, and this board, appear to give you no enjoyment.

I really like Baldwin as a talent, he's an elite mark of the ball (something we lack inside 50), but those injuries really scare me

I'd very happily take a punt at 40

O'Driscoll already leaked it a month or so ago.

I have no confidence we are not that obvious.

It would be very like us to trade down for a lesser talent to fulfil some misconceived strategy we've hatched like hoping we can keep McDonald by drafting O'Driscoll

Oh look, it’s another beaming comment of positivity.

Pick 40 could slide into Live Pick number 32 as the picks currently stand if bids come for NGA players Ugle-Hagan (Bulldogs), Campbell/Gulden (Sydney), Jones (Port Adelaide) and Western/Walker (Fremantle) prior to Pick 40 and Gold Coast don't use Pick 27 due to lacking the list space. It could slide in even further if a bid came for Reef McInnes, Collingwood's NGA prospect, prior to Pick 14 and or Pick 16.

Yep, that’s a whole lot of picks that will shift out of the draft order

Hypothetical....Bombers offer us picks 7 & 8 for our No 1 pick, in order to get McDonald.....would we entertain it?

Absolutely not

Would have to be 6, 7, 8 and their 2021 first and we can send a 2nd rounder back to them

yeah... what is it?.. two knees?... one more and its just about all over..

but if hes there at 40 and we havent used it tomatch one of our NGA’s.. sure, take a punt.

What if we trade 1,22,23 to Essendon for 6,7,8.

Gives us 4 picks in a row in the top 10 and hope tilly slides to 6?

Points 4660 Adelaide Essendon 4946

That's the thing. Hard to get a judge on where Borlase/Newchurch will be picked, it could be as early as 30 and as late as the rookie draft (although I think we'll get them both on our main list)

Edwards... well I have no clue what's happening there

How about no.

We came last, we take pick 1. Especially if we can get McDonald.

so we take Hately in the PSD..

we grab newchurch and borlase with later picks hoping they dont get bid on until the 30’s at the earliest.. and maybe Edwards if he nominates us for F/S..

use pick 1 and 9..

is there any way we can turn 22/23 into a first rounder next year.. surely collingwood would be keen given daicos is set to be a top 5 next year..

if all the rounds of the draft are held on the one night this year and not split into round 1 and then 2 onwards from the next day... is there a chance the AFL put a break in between the end of round 1 and then start of the rest of the rounds?.. say a 30min “take stock” opportunity for the media to spin a whole lot of their theatrical BS (that we all know the AFL just love) about “who got what and who went where“ in the all important first round.. their usual crap on about who surprised, who bolted and who didn't get picked up?.. before the rest of the rounds continue.

even a 30 minute break like this could have clubs scrambling to do deals with us for 22 and 23 if there has been a player they like slide (and there always is)..

if we could flip one of those into a 2021 1st we would be setting ourselves up for another good draft hand two years in a row.. especially given we already have melbourne‘s second next year.

id be very happy to only add

1
9
hately
borlace
newchurch
and maybe edwards
plus a rookie or two from the rookie draft where we will also have pick 1.

this year, and not use 22/23 if it means flipping them for more great picks in next years draft..

although... does anyone know where that young Spicer lad is likely to be picked?.. Mutineer???...anyone?... wouldn't mind getting him in.. speed, speed and more speed with some x-factor.

swear I recall someone said he might fall to the rookie draft..

This is absolutely my thinking as well.

I really like where our picks are located, and my preference was to keep 22,23 anyway instead of trading with the Bulldogs.
Despite the fact that these picks will be pushed back with NGA/FS bids, and it’s in a speculative draft, I still think there’s a good chance that a player might slip through, that a list manager might rate much higher.

And yes, even if there’s a 15-20 min break between rounds come draft night, I think we can cash in.
